This saw this game while browsing the internet, and it looks very much like freelancer. Anyone think this is worth buying?? I ask because the last space game I bought was terrible, X3 with all the expansions, took forever! to get anywhere or do anything lol.

I played this for some time, I found it hard. You need to have patience as well, travelling about takes quite some time.

Freelancer, the community has come out with a really good mod, shame I can't remember what its called lol. But a lot more ship, an ever changing economic system, and you can buy quite a few frigates and bigger ships.
