RE: Drifter for PC/Mac and Linux
Just wanted to bump this because it's the weekend and ask folks to go vote for Drifter on Greenlight if they get a chance: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=136694267 We're just about at 20% of the way to the Top 100 which is awesome but we need to get the word out to keep our momentum up. Thanks to everyone who's already voted, pre-ordered and Kickstarted you're the best <3
RE: Drifter for PC/Mac and Linux
After a bit of fiddle with PayPal I gave up and used Amazon payments instead and it worked first time. Just download it and no problems with getting the game up and running, just getting to grips with the controls. do like the radial dial.
RE: Drifter for PC/Mac and Linux
Spent a brief couple of hours with the beta Drifter so a few quick thoughts about the game. The game 2.5D much the same as Starpoint as you fly on a plane but it's a lot easier to control your ship also has a Newtonian flight model, ie you accelerate your ship forward and you will keep flying in that direction until you turn around and accelerate in the other direction. 3D starmap of the Galaxy and the local system
which can be rotated and zoomed in much the same as the old Frontier ones.Like to see some more info on the maps maybe some overlays which would show the games empires boundaries and major trade routes. Also it would nice at some point to be able to use the cursor keys to rotate and zoom on the maps as I could not zoom out (think I have a broken mouse wheel). Menus on the stations did not realize at first that their was a lot more items if you scroll down, changing the scroll bar colour or just adding some up/down arrows would help. Also displaying how much cash you have more prominently. Did not have much a go at the combat yet just the odd pot shot at a couple of passing ships one of which took the bait and fired back, had a bit of shooting match with that one until it hit an asteroid and blew up.

Thanks for checking the game out PINBACK and thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated
RE: Drifter for PC/Mac and Linux
Interesting bit on Gamasutra from Collin Walsh, not so much about Drifter but about trying to get it green lighted on Steam. http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/ColinWalsh/20130724/196909/Steam_Greenlight_What_To_Expect.php Looks like they have to rack up some big yes vote to even get anywhere near a release on Steam.

Hey all! Just wanted to pop in and let you know that development on the game continues apace and to remind folks about our Greenlight campaign
The great news is we're in the top #100 on Greenlight which means, hopefully, we'll be approved sometime in the near future. It's no guarantee that we will be but the closer we are to #1 the better so if you haven't had a chance to check it out and vote please do so! Speaking of greenlight, they just lit 25 new titles, which means we get a good jump up to #66!( http://isdriftergreenlityet.com/ for the latest statistics and links to go vote )

Oh PINBACK, I'm not sure if it's possible but Drifter now runs under Linux as well if you're able to update the post title.
RE: Drifter for PC/Mac and Linux
Any news on the next update to the game.?

Plan is for 0.3.1 tomorrow. It's actually got some new features (addition of Afterburners and faster Slipstream) but I felt it wasn't quite enough to warrant a minor version increase. There will be a much shorter wait for 0.4.0 as well.
RE: Drifter for PC/Mac and Linux
Nice one CGSColin will be keeping an eye for it. :good:
RE: Drifter for PC/Mac and Linux
Excellenty, I take it the Humble Bundle site will update too? :girlcrazy:

RE: Drifter for PC/Mac and Linux
Making the AI in the game "afterburner aware" has been taking longer than expected but the results will be fun, I hope. I made them a little bit more intelligent about using their momentum to make attack runs instead of attempting to turn around slowly and fly away (thus losing all of their speed in the process). Certainly looks a bit cooler anyway: As for Humble yes, that's where you'll be able to get the game when it's ready. I've also added a version check that pings the Drifter site to check and make sure you have the latest version, and if you don't it'll let you know. Hoping that'll be useful
RE: Drifter for PC/Mac and Linux
Oh yes, like that indeed! :girlcrazy:

0.3.1 is uploading for seeding to Humble right now. It's likely it won't be available until tomorrow but I'll let folks know when it is.

0.3.1 is available through your Humble Library for Kickstarter and pre-order backers. You can read all about it here: http://celsiusgs.com/drifter/wiki/Current_Build_and_Known_Bugs
