Noooo! Where is the inertia?! He's flying around like he is an atmosphere!I do like the idea of ship getting hotter though more you thrust around. Nice idea. Worrying that other players may come and join in the battle if they spot it on radar. This is a little strange, because it should take hours/days/weeks or whatever to get to the combat (never mind spotting the heat radiation in real time, when it should be mins/hours/days before it could even remotely be detected)... As they are going for the MP angle though, i guess they have to make some concessions.

Remember folks this is a very early build of the game. How the flight model will perform in the finished game, may differ. I still hope it has the Elite and Newtonian flight modes.

Still too early to say anything.I hope they include the option to be able to wakl tru the ship. This was the only wish I had as a kid playing Frontier; and it would make the immersion factor explode.I loved the lone-wolf factor of Elite. Being in the middle of nowhere on a barren rock or floating in space doing your thing. And the Idea that you could visit the various compartments of the ship, home away frome home, is awesome. With todays tech it sould be an easy thing to implement.Oh, and made it moddable!

I am almost certain that you will be an avatar in your ship Starmax. You will be able to move around inside it. Some of the Elite vets are unhappy about this, but (speaking as one of those vets) I think its a good thing. I just hope you can get out and wander around the starports too....maybe do a side mission or two while you are there, like meet passengers, get drunk, get into a bar fight or just go for a drive around a city, but I am dreaming too much. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//girl_crazy.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':girlcrazy:' />It's long been my belief that space should belong to the young, so I think it's important that a modern space sim should have features like this to encourage a new generation of gamers away from "formulaic shooter number 746" and toward a deeper more wondrous gaming experience. I want to see the young dream again! Just like older gamers like me used to do.

I guess I'm confused how there could possibly be newtonian physics in this game. It simply doesn't make sense. This clearly isn't going to be a remake of FFE or FE2, because he talks about player interactions. Full newtonian like those titles would make player interaction impossible. Kind of like how you never saw pirates fighting police, or traders fighting off pirates, etc. Full newtonian would also be a pain due to the time it takes to cross a system. I think DB is dropping some realism in favor of gameplay. At least thats the impression I'm getting.Or are we talking partial newtonian? (Gliding, fly by wire, etc. etc. like Freespace 2 and Evochron.)I for one wouldn't mind just Elite style combat. Its signifcantly more enjoyable for the players, and allows for skill, whereas full newtonian is a much bigger learning curve and will frustrate new players endlessly. (I know I was whenever I tried doing it all manually in FFE.)Also. I can understand the Cobbie III not being the starter ship anymore, however, if it isn't in game, I won't play it! <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wild.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wild:' />

There'll be a Cowell & MgRath Cobra Mk III in there... the concept art on the Kickstarter page has what looks like a classic Mk III.

I saw that... but the game comes out in what... 2014? ALOT can change, and the FAQ says only 15 ships to start, I can see them dropping alot of the older ships for new designs.Lets hope not!

It may not be oscars wining but sure beats the hell out of anything the new films. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_lol.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_lol.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />I am all for having starports and spacestaion to walk around in as you can get away with having fairly generic look to them, ship interiors would be nice but if they have to create 15 of them then it may become an expensive process., it may be cheaper to go with the I-WAR idea of having a number of different station in the ship.I think DB has already said that there will be none of the jousting of the Frontier games.

Hi everyone, My name is Ashley and I'm the community support manager at Frontier. I've already posted in the other Elite: Dangerous thread but just in case you didn't see it, I'll be visiting here regularly to help with any questions you might have regarding our Kickstarter. Obviously there will be plenty of things I can't talk about or am not qualified to give you a full answer on, but I'll do my best to give you what I can. : ) Thanks, Ashley

Hello Ashley.I think the one question I would to know is "are we going to see some more regular updates with a bit more meat about the game" as so far they have been a bit thin on the ground.

Hi Pinback, There should be a new update coming soon. I understand everybody would like them to come more regularly, it is something I will pass on and see if I can get arranged. Sorry if that's a bit of a cop-out answer, but I honestly will talk to someone about it!

That's some thing I have always wanted to see stations being built over time  hope we are going to see a lot of activity outside of the stations as well.

Both Star Citizen and Elite 4 are worth of my support and will get it. But, no matter how polished and grand is SC, my heart lies with Elite 4. And it needs it more. I'll try to go for the 150£ tier (+ shipping outside of UK). I'd love to go for the design decision forum (more than alpha or beta testing - lack of time and inclination for that), but 300£ is a bit too steep for me. Although If meanwhile I happen to lose my sanity, I'll go for the planet + launch party. I'll also try to support the writers pack crowdfunding efforts. Regarding what the game will actually be, my main concerns lie with flight/combat model (yes, how innovative ;)). Specially on how to make ship speed significant in space (delta v is always significant) while not making it too "dumbed down". Fighting wise, Frontier and FFE left quite a bit to be desired. Yes, realism is all that nice, but it is a game. I want the feeling of being in the seat in a vast and cold (and black ;)) universe again. I'm also curious about space travelling - hyperspace jumping only (with mass locking) or hypergates also? Many other questions come to my mind - as well as too many other forum users I guess :). But time will answer them I hope.

Same here it's Elite and Frontiers which have really nailed my idea of what these games should be like. I am at £90 on Kickstart at the moment and might creep up but it will depend on what incentives they offer. One thing that always annoyed me about Frontier was that small ship like the Eagle were able to make Hyperspace jumps, never made any sense. never a fan of jumpgates in these games but I always thought a limited network connecting the richer core worlds would allow these ships to move around as well as being able to transport your ship on larger ships until you were able to buy a jump capable ship. Couple of new concept pic which were posted the other day. Really like this one very 2001

Hey Community Manager! DB mentioned consoles in his kickstarter video. So I'd like to know whether the controls of Elite will be simplified and designed around the limitations of console gamepads or whether we'll still have sophisticated controls on PC, using all the buttons of a keyboard like in the days of classic space sims.
