Insterstellaria

This area is to discuss FPS (First Person Shooters), Strategy and Tactical based games that don't always involve 3D space combat (ex: Fallout, Wasteland, Mass Effect, X-Com, Deus Ex, Halo, ect...)

Good lord this game is unintuitive. The UI seems to fight the player at every step. That being said its kinda fun. Not overly deep for a game where you sit in the captain's chair. Played for roughly an hour or two. Not very far yet, but its giving me good vibes. Just wish selecting crew members wasn't incredibly difficult, which is a problem with real time combat.

A very welcome and some what overdue update to the UI of the game. http://steamcommunity.com/games/Interstellaria/announcements/detail/818914824057077169 The new UI should be a LOT easier to work with for everyone. Things are much more clear, multiple menus can be opened at once, and more importantly the UI behaves better with different resolutions than the previous version. In addition to the new UI, there should be a few new NPC's to talk to, some new items hiding throughout the game, as well as a new ship purchasable early on. It's all very exciting! As the developer I would also like to address and apologize for the length of time it took to complete the patch. A lot of people are surprised to discover that Interstellaria is a solo dev project - just me (coldrice). As you can imagine, there is a LOT that goes into a game, and that's a LOT being done by a single person. I work a regular full time job and support a family as well as making games, so my progress is not quite as fast as bigger teams. It's not an excuse however! It just means it takes me a bit longer to get things turned around to where I want it. I make Interstellaria because I love Interstellaria, not really for any other reason. An additional factor to the delay is the extent of the update. The original plan was a superficial/readability update for the UI. Instead, the entire UI system was taken out and replaced with something far more flexible. This should make it easier to extend, or if needed easier to remove bugs. Hopefully you guys like it!Thanks for holding on guys! Also 60% off this week.

Seem to getting a bit of a kicking on steam although I not come across any bugs mentioned but it has been awhile since I last played it. Having just run through the tutorial again and these floating windows are a bit of a pain, might be better in full screen mode rather than the window mode.

The dev just announced a new update to the game https://steamcommunity.com/games/Interstellaria/announcements/detail/1720837068943160656 although he says he can't work on it full time. It's great to see him doing some work on it, even if it's only part time.

we getting another update bug fix for the game, nice should be dropping tomorrow on Steam.

Good evening, Captains.
I come to you with a meaty update. This is the second in a series of a planned patches that will address critical bugs and playability issues. With the Coldrice Games discord in full swing, I have been able to continue to push on development for the game with updates to the optimizations of the game as well as several quality of life needs. I have some new smaller projects on the horizon as well which I hope will bring in funds to further push Interstellaria.
Without extra comment, I will also add that Interestellaria is no longer being published by Chucklefish.

WHATS NEW
Dramatically overhauled the "tile" management system of the game, allowing for incredibly fast loading of planets.
Added a percentage on screen when loading a planet
Pathfinding has been dramatically optimized. Should be almost instantaneous in most areas, and very fast in the others.
When fighting in space, enemies will no long "BLOCK EXIT," instead every encounter has a timer to leave based on how many enemies there are.
You can now access the full fleet inventory even when on a planet
In order to work with UNITY, putting mod images must be done in the interstellaria_data/resources/mods folder
Crewmen can no longer harvest when inventory is full
Ulu has been made more navigable
Adjusted oloke to only require the death of one giant lizard
Adjusted the description of ships so that their stats match properly when purchasing
Removed some invisible blocks here and there
Slightly renamed some items, adjusted text for others.
Made some adjustments to run speed
BUG FIXES
Fixed a bug where race specific dialogue wasn't coming up.
Fixed a bug with bulk buying
Fixed a bug where you could apply repair plates to destroyed ships
Fixed bugs with the reload and return feature
Fixed a bug with power armor
Fixed a bug with poison or sticky effects
Fixed a bug where repair all charged money but didn't repair ship
Fixed a bug where you could install a stacked station, losing them.
Fixed a bug where damaged pod event didn't give you a crewman
Fixed a crash with distress signal event.
Fixed a bug where you could put a stock of weapons into a weapon slot
Fixed a bug where the landing screen would clip the planet graphics/texts
Fixed a bug where you could take off from trenzalore without repairing.
Fixed some bugs with rogue queen's attack
Fixed a bug where you could get a hull leak on the freighter that can't be reached.
Fixed some bugs with achievements
Fixed a bug where you could click the starmap through combat screen
Fixed NPC issues at the casino
Fixed NPC issues on Tharkad
Fixed some naming issues with Robar and Kere
Fixed a bug where if the player loses to the General and reloads, the game proceeds as if you won
Fixed a bug with background NPC hair
Fixed a bug where you could walk off the size of anskad
Fixed a bug where opening a menu when taking off makes them freeze
Fixed a bug with the wormhole event
Fixed a bug that allowed infinite items when crew window is open
Fixed a crash with some ships
Fixed a crash with landing on asteroids
Fixed a crash when returning to Aibit Nest
fixed a crash on derelict stations

And a surprise update for the game has appeared

I'm excited to bring you a nice big patch for you space game lovers. Interstellaria is, and always will be, my baby and I just can't walk away from it. I have a huge vision for what I wish Interstellaria could be - and until I can see that vision come true I'll keep slow-boating updates to this game where I can.

This patch covers several things:

Additional Pirate corvette/weapons (cheap upgrade from starter) on a Pirate planet
Adjustments to the UI in several places
Optimization of asset loading/unload and pathfinding
SEVERAL bug fixes for a number of various crashes people were experiencing.
Fixes for several resolution issues (cut off levels, wobbly, text, etc...)
Fixes to improper stats loaded for stations/weapons/items

Thanks for playing!
