Looking at the video I'm not that impressed with this game as it seems like a grab bag of ideas from other games and the space combat looks pretty weak, although it may be better at co-op play than it is in single player mode. out some time this year and their is a demo on Steam.

Jump Ship is a mission based co-op PvE for up to 4 players, where you are the crew of a spaceship. Transition seamlessly from crewing the ship to on-foot exploration and space walks. Engage in intense battles both on the ground and in space, and always keep your ship upgraded and intact. Teamwork is key for survival and victory.

I just watched a video on this game a few days ago and yeah looks interesting but as you stated and from a gameplay video I watched it seems more towards co-op play for the best experience... which is okay but those sorts of games seems to have a very SHORT lifespan. With it still having some 'cook' time maybe they will make some enhancements and get a solid single player element to the game as well...?
