I still sometimes play Ad Astra, a freeware game still available, that also includes planetfalls where you can land your ship just like in Frontier Elite, and the planets include nicely done flora and fauna too. You were however limited to land with your ship only, the game engine doesn't allow to walk around, actually the planets don't have hard surfaces. Flying over the ground to watch these animals etc. was fun for some time and then I wanted to switch back to the missions. At some point I have contacted the author and suggested him to include more varied missions, and also maybe some 'actions' to perform on these beautiful planets, saying that they shouldn't be there for decoration only (maybe some pirate bases to combat etc.). He replied me that he had received many requests in that sense, but implementing this would be very difficult for him. So, I think the main fascination of NMS will surely come from the beautiful planets, yes, but they should include IMO some suspense action for the player. Included features as for now are collecting information tokens on animals etc., but to keep the player there, some more 'difficult' missions on planet surface would certainly not harm and upgrade NMS a lot.But then, how will Sean Murray keep up with the philosophy to avoid making NMS turning into a 'Battlefield' game? It's a hard balance to keep. XenonS

If there the default, the danger that they might get mundane fast is not a unreal danger. ... Time will tell. New Horizons calling Earth: "Darn, There are mountains on that wannabe planet Pluto !!!" :)

41[/url] Amazing Things About No Man’s Sky (Aug 03, 2015)Alex, from Hello Games, revealing some additional stuff about NMS at PlayStation.Blog. Lifting some points out of it:* "But there are 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 planets in the (game)universe.* "This also means the game will be completely playable offline."* "Planets are defined by their position in space" + "Most planets are barren" :)

The universe isn’t stored on your hard disk or on server somewhereThe world around you is generated by your PS4 at the point you visit it. Leave and it’s all thrown away, but if you return it is generated again exactly as it was. This also means the game will be completely playable offline. OH YES. :cool:Read some where it may be delayed until next year but as the have not given a release date it may just be rumor.

It would be great if this could be played offline. The statement above makes me a little bit skeptical however, I would have expected a high-profile announcement if this were true. Marketing material from a developer is one thing, marketing material from Sony has an air of untrustworthiness about it. By the way, I know this probably isn't reasonable, but the term "maths" absolutely infuriates me. It's not even an abbreviation, since math is a shorter word. Since computers can only perform a few arithmetic operations, in actuality every computer game ever made consists of all and only math. (More ontologically, the whole universe is apparently just a machine for evaluating path integrals, i.e. "math".) So, in addition to sounding retarded, it's also meaningless. (Is it possibly some computer science term I'm not aware of?)

The more they release a new trailer, I feel that it won't able to meet most people's (read: "mainstreams") expectation. IMO it's like watching them presenting the same stuff over and over again (at least there's walkers now) - either they have so few things to show or they have something very particular to let the players explore on their own, which may explain the trailers almost always having the samey vibe. Well, at least there's proper release date now despite how they calling it "delayed.

I dunno. I hate to be bitter about the game, its just that after Rebirth and Dangerous its hard to stay positive lol. Its looking good tho, I might have to board the hype train again.

Erm ... having mixed feelings about the BladeRunner linkup attempt, as I have not seen anything game-play wise or game atmosphere wise that even comes close to anything BladeRunner related. This feels a bit like there trying to boost there initial sales expectations. As such I will completely dismiss the BladeRunner theme in relation to NMS. (Less change of being disappointing later on, but its also makes me more critical / skeptical to whatever else they might say / publish about the game.) (But I like that they at least got Rutger Hauer to do the narrating.)

I thought it was rather inspired to do a take on his BladeRunner speech.  I'm always hoping that we might see a some scifi easter eggs in one of these games one day.

Im converted. GAIZ HAS YOU SEEN THeSE!?   *SOBS* I AM UNWORTHY! P.s. Sorry but... posting videos isn't intuitive at all, literally every other forum on the face of the planet allows me to embed, or at least gives me a button I can click and add a link. You guys will just have to click the links. I'm far too lazy to google the code for this.

Sound good  bit of shame about the one bio sphere and the gravity but it looks like it will have a ton of things to explore, deep oceans for one.

Same on the 'one bio sphere and the gravity'. Other than that, I like what I hear. Just hope they checked (and keep checking) for potential "dying at the other end of a portal" bugs. ;)
