I updated the configuration file for mysql with some tweaks, I hope this addresses this issue or least limits when it happens. I allotted more memory to various processes in mysql so I hope that resolves this. I did enable slow query logging so maybe we will see some issues with the query taking a long time to execute and I can report the findings to get it resolved.

Ok, did some more digging and I removed all of the Ping Services addresses from the system, what this does is alert various blog/post aggregation services that something new has been posted. And I moved the flood controls from 10s to 15s. I think this might help with the issue posting, especially the ping service, this I could see being an issue since it needs to contact each provider with the info and that could take time.

So please let me know, if you have a double-posting moment or the post takes a long time to post to the forums. I see this issue from time-to-time so I hope I don't see it any more. And thinking back this was never an issue on the forums until I upgraded to 3.4 for IP.Board which has this Ping Service stuff that I enabled and filled out, so maybe this will address this problem. If it is any consolation, my posting seems a bit quicker.

This week and into the weekend I will try to scrap the forum areas for new games and figure out if a download area is needed for them and add them, so at least we can accomidate some of the newer titles/demos that have been cropping up. If there is any games that need a folder and doesn't please just reply or make a new post in the admin area pls.

Are you thinking of combining the Commercial indie games and Stand alone games forums into one as the lines between the two are becoming so blurred now that it's becoming hard to tell them apart, with commercial developers starting to use kickstart ect

Yeah I was noticing the confusion as well the other day when I moved Ensign 1 to the commercial area since it was released. What do you think of this for forum changes, because I really do think it is about the forum labels themselves:'Space/SciFi Combat and Simulation Game Discussion''Space and Scifi MMO Chat''Free Indie and Open Source Gaming Projects''FPS and Tactical Games''Mobile and Web Gaming''Classic/Retro Space Games'What I would do is merge all of the topics and posts from 'Commercial Indie Projects' to 'Space/SciFi Combat and Simulation Game Discussion'. I would create a new area and parse the forums for these types of posts and move them to 'FPS and Tactical'. This way I think we have more coverage and the areas do make sense, you either have a free game or its paid. What does everyone think about that, you know me i'm always willing to change things to make peoples lives easier, especially mine :)

merge all of the topics and posts from 'Commercial Indie Projects' to 'Space/SciFi Combat and Simulation Game Discussion' I also agree, this organization should be more relevant IMHO

Ok, I will get started. As always any feedback on titles and headings is always welcomed to help users find what they are looking for quicker and of course the simpler the better.

Going to be upgrading the site software this weekend, every application on the site has new versions and fixes (theme as well) so I will be doing this and there 'may' be very short periods of the site acting funny but I shouldn't need to bring it down during this period. I will post again when it has been completed.

Trying to configure a new portal addon, to replace my other homepage. So if you see that 'portal' link in the navigation bar thats what it is, once it is complete I will fix it so it will be the official homepage so feel free to give feedback on it as I am playing with it.

yeah, I have to remake it. For some reason when an update happened it affected the page code. It's basically issues with the portal code and the page code because I am trying to use the styling from the theme in the tables. No data was lost because that is stored in a database. I just need to rebuild the page, I knew about it just been lazy :)Plus I need to add like another 500-800 more games to the list and thats a manual process and not looking forward to doing it.

Update 5/31/13 Small update but its something: - Updated a few forum area descriptions and links to fix them and make them all more uniform (we must have order) ;)- Added a steam group widget to the forum index page and the homepage... so join up!- Modified the board index page a little to remove some things that were not real useful- Added a 'recent images' block to the bottom of the forum categories- Fixed some broken downloads (Thanks Skard) Looking into why my twitter widget isn't auto-updating and looking into enabling login/sign-up via facebook api as well. And I will try to get back to working on the game listing, I might redesign it to be less descriptive and maybe only show 'year', 'title', 'download/demo', 'where to purchase'. But I will talk about this more when I have more to show.

7/7/13 Did some minor maintenance to the forum area, moved forum areas around under the correct content area and added a few new games and sub-forums recently. Edited some of the forum descriptions and fixed a few broken links. Also added the ability for these new areas to post threads to the main page if they are new topics./ As always, I like feedback on the site to improve it and make it more user friendly and easy to find information more quickly.

Yeah, I need to fix it and update it. It's just a huge task and I have been putting it off for quite a while now. This weekend I will see what i can put together to least get what I have working again and then I will worry about adding new items. Since I am not a 'real' web developer I'm not really sure how to make a forum that would update my database as people enter or least admin/mod enters a new game. Because right now it would be me updating it with a sql query every time. A form would be awesome to have :)

Fixed the permissions issues on all of the galleries on the site, for some reason the members group lost access to them. Should be fixed now.
