I doubt much of your trouble is due to your machine being underpowered robske, I am getting severe under-utilization of my GPU, and many report the same. Yeah, they deserve much of the flak they got because of the performance problems. I'm going to wait to actually play it for that reason so I'm pretty frustrated. But what you say about Reunion is definitely true, and X3 turned out to be well worth hundreds of hours of gameplay. I still have some hope for that with Rebirth.

One positive thing to consider is that Egosoft is known for providing decent to good post-release support. I am quite sure they will fix X rebirth through this too, just like they did with X3 reunion. Action packed video is uploaded within 60 minutes (should be):

36 minutes full with action packed stuff

Including:- Blowing up a station building.- Seizing capitals.- Losing capitals.- Accidentally pissing off Heart Of Albion (seems to have been a bug regarding local law enforcement. They are okay with me when I returned to De Vries).

I just done the hacking one and it said to return to the ship after the mission was completed but their is no way of telling where the ship is and the only way I get out of it was to take it out of signal range, seems a bit of an oversight that their is no way to retrieve the drones. Looks like their is a patch http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=347278 will have to switch steam on. Patch 1.13 - 2013-11-18• Fixed player occasionally being sent 1000s of km into space on leaving superhighway.• Fixed some invalid (but harmless) values in some savegames.• Fixed some causes of ship traders getting stuck (more to come on this).

Pressing back will just make you loseconnection to the drone and it is automatically retrieved then. Video is up and running

Great vid Robske :good: not tried hitting any of the bigger ships yet myself but I do miss not having a next target key and a match speed key although the combat seems to have been fairly easy so far.

If you can't wait for Egosoft to start patching the game then Incgamers has been looking at some mods which have appeared for the game. http://www.incgamers.com/2013/11/x-rebirth-mods-should-modders-fix-it-and-mods-to-try Also looks like Egosoft have updated their steam apology http://steamcommunity.com/app/2870/discussions/0/648811852275929537/ - Map and other menu improvement: We have a number of menu and map improvements planned. This includes more control over the map like the zoom that was suggested here and changing the layout of some of the text menus. We are also considering showing the "minimap" on the eventmonitor whenever there is "no signal" at the moment. These are a lot of individual improvements some of which will happen soon.- Autopilot / SETA: We will add some autopilot support. However it is our goal with X Rebirth that you do not need to run the game semi-automatically for extended periods of time. This is also he reason why we will not support SETA / SINZA time acceleration. There should never be a need to wait 20 minutes for your trade ships once you have multiple ships. You can queue orders and do many things in parallel. Time acceleration as a trick to accelerate trading will not be in X Rebirth.- Facial animations: We will look into improving facial animations.- External view / Ability to turn around in cockpit: This was asked for a few times. Yes we will look into this but it will be part of a larger update and take more time than just a few weeks. It will also be combined with support for looking around in the cockpit (e.g with a joystick POV hat) and maybe also support for Oculus Rift style VR. So please be aware that this feature will take some time to add.- Targeting hotkeys: Another feature that was requested a couple of times. Yes we will do this. Based on your feedback that is for one of the earlier updates even though such "explicit" targets only work in the mouse / keyboard mode. Not with controllers!- Talking to people on stations: We have a plan for an early patch (early december) which will make the conversations and finding NPCs for jobs a lot easier and more accessible. This has a high priority.- Skipping conversations: We will look into this, but I can not promise that this is always possible.- Joystick support: We are aware that joystick support (as opposed to gamepad) at this time is not perfect. We definitely will make this a priority for one of the next updates, but please allow a little time for this. Hope they give Improving the map and adding targeting hotkeys a high priority as well.

Another patch Patch 1.14 - 2013-11-19• Fixed crash when starting game caused by attached joystick.• Fixed several causes of crashes in-game.• Fixed boarding failure feedback.• Fixed problem with gate not activating.• Fixed UI issues with buttons being active where they shouldn't.• Fixed ware categories not being expanded in trade offers.• Fixed problem with secondary weapon panel not being visible sometimes.• Fixed problem with player engineers on board capital ships and stations.• Fixed issues with ship traders not accepting orders. Better get back onto Steam and start downloading, can't say that I have noticed any of them apart from the last one. And having just looked at some of the comments it looks like people are losing save games think I may wait.

First Looks: Contrary to what I am reading, I like the new direction. Seems to run fine on my machine (I5 2500K, 8GB ram, HD6950 2GB), on high settings (75% drawing distance, 50% LOD & Effects). But I am thinking of waiting till Christmass to really play it!!!

Wait for some patches

It's highly similar to X3. I5 2500K? Good memories of that one. Had to sell my desktop using that past summer due to high energy bill. But for the rest a great piece of gaming CPU. Talking about consolidation btw, I'd rather call it chris-roberts-ization. I notice many things from Freelancer inside X Rebirth. Also Omicron Lyrae has lots of easter eggs in stations. Including a doll of a kerbalnaut from Kerbal Space Program.

Thought the same thing as I entered Devries system that it looked just like freelancer with all the asteroids in the system. The game it reminds me most of is Dark Star 1.

Also, how they draw nebulae is very similar to how Freelancer did it. That also reminds me very much. Not to mention the highways. You notice in my vids that I often call them Trade Lanes

It's strange idea that mini game with the highways, think it would have been better to have the Albion Skunk fitted with a fuel tank so going faster would have burnt more fuel rather than using some mini game. More patches. Patch 1.15 - 2013-11-20• Fixed a number of crashes during start-up and in-game.• Fixed crash when docking at certain capital ships.• Fixed a problem with missing flight control data in savegames.• Fixed a stall when loading savegames.• Fixed characters crouching when you talk to them.• Fixed ships still following you when you remove them from your squad.• Removed "Show me your skills" option for NPCs that cannot be hired.• Increased voice volume in videos.• Added feedback to indicate when you cannot hire someone because your crew is full (note: Yisha tells you, but there is currently no voice, only subtitles).• Added data to try to help nVidia Optimus software select the correct GPU.• Added fallback to show subtitles if the voice for a text line is missing, even if subtitles are off.• Added Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese localisations.Patch 1.16 - 2013-11-22• Fixed video stutter/crackle at start.• Fixed several more crashes during start-up and in-game.• Fixed specific crash when using Alt-Tab or changing shaders.• Fixed specific crash when leaving a highway.• Fixed several problems with trade ships being blocked from operating (more fixes to come).• Fixed problem with not being able to see dock icons for certain ships.• Fixed problem with certain missions potentially not working after saving and reloading.

Finally finished my first station

Now to get self-sufficient. Acquired the materials for it by hijacking plutarch cargo ships which carried the materials others do not sell (like Reinforced metal plates, Bio optic wires). Now getting 2 more stations set up. One makes those metal plates. The other bio optic wires.

Another patch• Added autosave facility.• Added button to clear trade queue.• Fixed crash after displaying fatal error dialog.• Fixed stall loading certain savegames.• Fixed target point list growing uncontrollably in certain situations.• Fixed problem with ships not joining formations.• Fixed ships getting stuck during mass traffic trades.• Fixed several problems with ship scripts.• Fixed lipsync on Split characters.• Fixed dialog choices shown in wrong language when loading savegame from another language.• Fixed the primary cause of highway exit crashes. Fix for a less common crash involving highways will follow as soon as possible. Has anyone update their game as I am still using the 1.12 version and I keep reading that these patch are causing just as many problems as they are supposed to be solving.

So I have played only about 15 hours or so in the story mode, I have just got to the mission with the 8 marines ect but the mission appears to be broken as it tell me to board the wrong ship and then I am killed by about 20 ship firing at me. Maybe I should spend more time upgrading the Skunk anyhow I had a look at the free play game and was surprised to notice that it is different to the story mode game in the number of ship and stations each zone has also notice that the FPS was dropping a bit.

I got past that mission after 2 attempts. Failed the prev ones because the fighters killed me. So 3rd time I stocked up on shitloads of sunstalkers and got the mission done. By now I'm deploying my 3rd station. I just find it kinda weird that my construction vessel didn't dissolve, but instead built the station and went harvesting resources for manufacturing right after.
