the 'stuff' that defines epic battles like some crusers and battleships and the general mayhem, you only find in the part of the game that revolves around the central plot with the nomads.
I can see why you might say that, micmanos, but it is only part of the story.Microsoft published Freelancer, and they never released much content for the engine -- just the original 13 missions. The engine itself continues to be so popular simply because nobody else has made a better space sim game engine. Not yet, anyway. I am sure that one will come along, but it has been a surprisingly long seven years since Freelancer. For more content, mod the game yourself, play a mod made by others, or try a multi-player server. There are plenty of epic battles to be fought!

I'd go with FreeSpace 2. The Open Source project makes the graphics absolutely beautiful, and there are tons of mods and additional campaigns that prop up the games epicness after all of these years. It's an awesome game in its own right too.

FL is all about the multiplayerThere was a pretty awesome server FREELANCER UNIVERSE 24/7You might want to try it if its still aliveAs for Starshatter, i remember being very excited when i started it but i found myself frustrated at it at some point and dumped itI think it had something to do with the A.I. but i can't really rememberI think i might dig it out and try again myselfAnd here's another suggestion - Star WolvesI found its closest to my alltime favourite - Nexus: The Jupiter incidentThough if you can't tolerate constant CTDs, you might want to play only the last installment
