Elite: Dangerous
RE: Elite: Dangerous
Ah... my commiserations, Nevil. But Reynolds' stuff is very popular, I suppose.

RE: Elite: Dangerous
Yeah, and especially in UK I suppose; here in France nobody seems to know it except me (and that's pity) Sent a request for 'Andy Linoge'
RE: Elite: Dangerous
He writes very fine sci-fi, that's for sure. So... how long 'til they approve/disapprove second choices, I wonder?Have you got something else in mind, Nevil? My second choice is a variation on Cody... hmm.

RE: Elite: Dangerous
I wont try variation on Nevil Clavain . I submitted Andy Linoge, as I was thinking about S.king's Novel, Storm of the Century (no link with sci-fi, though). Good luck for your second choice

RE: Elite: Dangerous
Heh... or Oo-Cody. No, I've simply added Cody's two first names, which I wouldn't normally use in-game.If that gets rejected, then I'll probably use a character's name from one of my Oofics.
RE: Elite: Dangerous
Just had a look at the backer and noticed that they now have a guide to names. Are there any restrictions on choosing Game Names?Yes, though we will try and be as accommodating as possible. The following list covers the majority of reasons why a name might be rejected:Universal ReasonsDuplicates - the name you selected was already takenProfanitiesNon UTF-8 characters usedUse of Elite/Frontier names (Jameson, Elite, Braben, etc)Commander namesName includes a rank e.g. Captain, Major, General etc.NPC namesUse of numbers and specific special-characters e.g. "J0hn Smith@22"Potential IP violations - while OK for commander names we can't accept names for game characters to which we don't own the rights; so no "Han Solo's" or "Coca-Cola's" here.Space stations & planet namesAdvertising - overt advertising would clash with the game fiction, so be careful if you want to use your company or brand e.g. "Frontier World" would be fine but "Frontier.co.uk" would not.Jameson namesIncluding Jameson in your name e.g. if you wanted "Rob Jameson" (already taken), just enter "Rob".Be forewarned, no employee of Frontier will enter into a discussion as to why a name was rejected. To try and justify the reason for every rejection would be far too time consuming and would take time away from more productive activities, such as working on updates, moderating, and helping people with technical issues. Seems to be a long list of things you can't have, must have a fear of the lawyers being unleashed on them. Looks like third choice of Han Solo-Coca Cola is out as well. :haha:

RE: Elite: Dangerous

RE: Elite: Dangerous
Cool! See you out there someday, maybe - somewhere beyond the frontier!
RE: Elite: Dangerous
A new Kickstarter for a writers' pack - a pen & paper RPG. Just to bump this - it's rolling along very well indeed! Very cool! Selezen created the timeline that I believe FD might adopt/adapt (in part or in full, I ain't sure) for E: D - he's the Historian!
RE: Elite: Dangerous
Got an email the other day saying that the poll for choosing the art prints had finished, see the one I want made it into the selection but not sure if I want to pay 30 odd pounds for a print.
RE: Elite: Dangerous
Hmm... you can get 8GB of RAM for £30.
RE: Elite: Dangerous
Pinback-SSC has been approved.
RE: Elite: Dangerous
Here, have a look at these Sidewinder concepts and Federation & Imperial Battle wagons from the recently posted news letter :girlcrazy:
RE: Elite: Dangerous
I was more intrigued by the Sidewinder, which I suppose will be my starter-ship. The one on the right is fine - the other is not!
RE: Elite: Dangerous
The Imperial Courier (at least I think that was the impire ship) is sweet. Oh, btw, Pyros got approved! :nyam:
RE: Elite: Dangerous
Oh, btw, Pyros got approved! :nyam: I will look out for you Pyros. My name was approved too. :girlcrazy:
RE: Elite: Dangerous
Cool... the SSC Dangerous Squadron is coming together nicely!
