According to my research, the no. 1 single in the UK charts at the time of Elite's release was "I Just Called To Say I Love You" by Stevie Wonder. I'm sure he'll come to the party, for a reasonable sum. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//dance3.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

The pitch Vid made appetite for more, and even though they have posted little so far I still fan-boy ahead.Even though I also feel a bit of dread, that they may simply milk the fan-base for the hard earned - central bank owned- pounds.

See they have been giving another kicking by Rock paper shotgun http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/11/09/elite-4-comes-dangerously-close-to-showing-something/

There are the good Kickstarters – the ones with prototypes, extensive mechanic breakdowns or videos of an eerily earless Jim Rossignol* demonstrating in-game footage at length – and then there are the bad ones, the ones that dangle a name but not a lot more. Tom Hall and Brenda Romero’s Old School RPG rightfully acknowledged its own (perhaps accidental) cynicism and pulled the plug, but it was this week’s Elite: Dangerous project by Frontier Developments that really offended me. I obviously don’t know the circumstances of the fund’s creation, but it had at least the appearance of being hastily arranged and trading on pure nostalgia rather than any definite promises. No artwork, no video, no concrete features – just a vague outline very heavily based on what Braben & Bell’s original spaceship sim already did. After decades of Elite 4-based promises and talk of ongoing development, I for one felt insulted, entitled little shmuck that I am.Now, the Elite: Dangerous Kickstarter page is in more like the shape it should have been at first, with artwork and videos added to the pitch at last. “At last,†he says, as though three days is an eternity. What have you done to me, internet?
Can't say that I disagree with what they are saying, so far their Kickstarter campaign has been a bit of a mess and we still don't have any answers to some basic questions about the game.

Yes I agree, the Kickstarter is very understated, perhaps a bit like David himself, but he really needs to come out of his shell now and really go for it. Chris Roberts ran a great campaign, holding meetings, regular updates and lots of "Oooooh Shiny!" on both the Kickstarter and RSI websites. David should do likewise while there is still time.

In the kickstart video at 1:20 we can see behind D.B some screens with a piece of software rendering cockpit view, stations, asteroid field, explosion and even planets. Is it the current elite dangerous prototype ? If yes, why do not giving to us some screens grab from it, ('cause it seem to run quite well) ? All that we have: art pictures and conceptual drawing; Really dont know what to think about it all. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//blink.png class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Same here.I also felt a bit insulted at how barren the site was, and yet asking for so much money!

I feel like this might be more of a real space sim than Star Citizen. Of course, it's hard to judge games that don't even exist, but my guess is that this game will have more realistic travelling, impressive procedurally generate space as opposed Star Citizen's "hand-made" sectors. Star Citizen will be probably have more detail and better immersion/visuals. That's how they'll probably differentiate. I'm just saying it's a good thing that both games won't be trying to do the same thing.I believe Elite should have no trouble reaching its goal. The question is, where is the sum going to be 2 months from now? $3 million maybe?

You may be right with this DiabloTigerSix but I've always favored hand made sectors rather than procedurally generated ones because they have more and better quality content in them.Time will tell how these 2 games will be, too bad we still have to wait a few years for that, which is soooooooo long.

well they done have pretty good in there first week, over 400.000 http://www.kicktraq....lite-dangerous/ if you look the data from that site they expect them to get between 3 and 9 million despite having one of the worst kickstart pages.

I too reckon Elite: Dangerous will hit its target - easily, in fact! I don't think the 'quality' of their Kickstarter page, or the lack of in-game vid, matters one jot - people have been waiting for this particular game for so long, and I expect DB will deliver a quality product. A prediction - how about 20/09/14 as the official full release date?

Most people are correct in what they say about the KS page being a bit bare. But everyone knows exactly what Elite is aimed at in all but the details. Which is a lot more than most projects.

Disappointed because of the lack of information on the Kickstarter page
"I will develop Elite IV, give me all the money you can spare." Would have been enough for me to pledge on this game. However, I have expected an earlier reply to the enormous success of the project. 3 days seemed a little too much. Nevertheless --> <--Wow, this forum has no  smilie, what a sad place...
