I don't know, maybe that looks more like a Mk 1 to me Cody or perhaps a re-imagined Gecko? Doesn't seem big enough for a Mk III, I could be wrong though. If you're talking about the cap ship video - they be Sidewinders & Imperial Fighters - you need to study your ship ID chart :rtfm: :D

Its the bit were they show you the Eagle also. :girlwink:

Ah, I need to read the context of a conversation before jumping in with my size twelves! Sorry :D - I was looking at the cinematic one, not the later one with commentary ;) Anyway, image attached, and it's definitely a Cobra Mk III or some new variant for ED. [attachment=2415:CobraMkIII.jpg]

Dev Diary 8 is out! :girlcrazy:  And no worries Stormprooter. Still think it's a bit on the small side for a Cobbie III tho. Still, it's an early work in progress shot so lets see when they really decide to show off that iconic craft. EDIT: Pinback! Help! The vid didn't embed properly for some reason. Can you fix my post? Pretty please? EDIT MkII: It's ok I sorted it. :girlwacko:

Looking at the ratio of the size of the cockpit window screen to the rest of the ship, yes I agree, it does seem somewhat smaller than the ship specs from the original ELITE (130m x 30m x 65m). And not much room for a 20t cargo bay (although that would only need to be 20 cubic metres) - looks to be about 1/6 the size of the original... (20m x 5m x 10m)?? something like that?

Noticed the XBox joypad has vanished to be replaced with a joystick wonder why. :haha: but it is seriously looking good  although I am still not crazy about the ship design. Oh yes fluffy dice are a must have cockpit add on.

Have they finally fixed the design flaw after all these years? Time will tell. And Cody, yes I saw that quote by Mike too. It's not exactly music to my ears truth be told, but I will adapt.

@Geraldine Could be the fabled Mk II, I don't think it's a Mk I(or a Gecko) because it's not the right shape for that, but from what I've seen in various dev videos so far, I think all the fighter class ships are somewhat smaller, to make them a bit more realistic in scale compared to the larger ships. For example, in the original ELITE, an Anaconda is 75m x 60m x 170m (approx 2 & a bit times bigger than a Cobra Mk III), yet has 37 times the cargo space - I think the ship scales have been better balanced for this game.

That is possible Stormprooter. We will know more once we get our mitts on the Alpha & Betas. Goodness, it's not far now by the way! :girlcrazy:Trying to decide what I am going to try first. I guess I will see what scenarios FD set up for the Alphas. With regards to the Betas, they should be much closer to the good old sandbox galaxy we all know and love. Just....a.....bit....further.......to.......go :girlsigh:

Nice that Frontier are taking 'realism' or 'pseudo-realism' seriously though - it all adds to the immersion and richness of the game.

The original BBC Elite ship dimensions were in feet, not metres - so you could probably land an Anaconda on a football pitch.

I've been very impressed with the clips that have made it out. Plus I am told you can switch into newtonian flight dynamics. Saw a video of someone who was a real pro already. Should be good for all those evochron mercenary guys/ vendetta online and elite 2 diehards
