Those weird Singleton games Fine games a mess of an interface (Even though I managed to beat Midwinter).
You beat Midwinter? Kudos, CaptainKal - that's no mean feat! I only ever beat midwinter II once, and that was only after I learned (from a magazine, naturally) the three key islands to liberate to thwart the incoming invasion.

Yea the Midwinter games were good. I herd back in the day, that in the first game, if you rounded up as much explosives as you could find at the start, you just headed for the enemy base and blew it sky high, game completed. I never tried that though, must give it a go! <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> How on earth did I remember that? <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_confused.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':?' />

Hints & Tips for Midwinter 1. Play it in easy :D :D :D :D (No Bombers , and no Mortars that way).2. When you first meet the enemy forces, run like hell. Your are way too outnumbered.3. The enemy is advancing using 3 or 4 columns. If you destroy all the gas stations, before the advancing colums eventually the enemy will stop to a halt. (You can also destroy the enemie's fuel supply line).4. When you see that the enemy has halted its advance, grab some explosives and a snowmobile , flank the enemy, head to the enemy HQ, and blow them to pieces. :) :) Tactics: When you hear the enemy missile coming, start making circles without moving (really!! most of the times the missile will miss). Recruit as many people you can. Even kids. (Even a kid with a snow mobile can cause the enemy damage).

Which islands do you have to liberate? Midwinter II was far better game than Midwinter I in my opinion. (And I have still not played "Starlord" and "Ashes of the Empire. I still have all the boxed versions of the 16bit Singleton games").

Some games stay with you for a long long time. :D :D :D

Hostile Breed game been found and uploaded to. http://agtw.abime.net/games/view/hostilebreedLooks pretty good from the screen shot will be having a go over the weekend with this. :D
Quote:
Some 18 years ago, in July 1992, I read the Amiga Power review of Hostile Breed, a strategy/management game cum shoot-'em-up from Palace Software. It was previewed and reviewed in most of the main Amiga magazines. The game was an intriguing departure from most other games of that era with its base management, action based along eight long corridors, an organic enemy and distinctive look.Years later, like many others, I was left wondering what had happened to Hostile Breed. I still hadn't played the game although its non-appearance seemed to have something to do with the publisher Palace's demise. In fact, Palace's problems were exactly why Hostile Breed remained unpublished. French company Titus bought Palace but unhappily the game failed to find a publisher there either. That wasn't the end of the story though, as programmer Rob Stevens had always retained the final master on Amiga floppy disks. Your Amiga Games That Weren't researcher (Adrian) finally tracked down Rob one day and was subsequently in receipt of three floppy disks. The first task was to create raw disk images for the Software Preservation Society (SPS). István Fábián analysed these raw dumps and found them to be free of errors and so were suitable for transformation into IPFs. The ADFs on this page have been created from the IPFs.Amiga Games That Weren't presents the full version of Hostile Breed along with interviews with its programmer Rob Stevens and graphical artist Joe Walker. Many thanks are due to Rob and Joe for allowing their hard work to be finally released.

Got my Amiga’s out of storage and after 3 years amazingly they all still work although the hard drive on the two 1200 took a couple of restarts before they kicked in. Couldn’t find the box with most of the game in it but I just realised that my ADF converter was in with the Amiga’s :D only problem is I have no 3.5 disk to write the games too.

Get yourself registered on Amibay Pinback and post a wanted ad, you should get a load of disks with little difficulty as they are always for sale, usually by the 100s!Here is a link, http://www.amibay.com/ you decided to dig them out again, now you can, once again, experience the best OS ever created <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_cool.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt='8-)' />

I dont understand Pinback <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_confused.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':?' /> Are you a trader or dont you have a Pay Pal account? If so, there is always Fleabay. Disks pop up there from time to time and you can use High Density disks, so dont worry about that if that's all you can find. Double Density disks (I.E standard Amiga blue disks) can be a little more difficult to find these days.

No its because I’ am using a mobile for the internet at the moment and have a Yahoo email address which I think will cause a lot problems with amibay.

Not totally positive on my info here. But I thought Sony removed homebrew by removing the ability to have the linux os on the PS3. Sony removed this with a mandatory firmware update last year and the new PS3 slims didn't even ship with the option. I heard about the hack recently to unlock the PS3 but if Sony suspects you they ban your PS3 from the PSN which would really stink. Not worth the risk right now, least for me.

Ahh got me a bit confused now :? . Considering that you probably aren't referring to Mechwarriors 4: Mercenaries, but a 4th project on the Mercenary saga - of which I remember playing Damocles on the ol' trusty Atari STe. But this series was quite different from the Millenium/Deuteros (more resource gathering and "strategy").
