Heh.. it looks worse than it is.. the NumericHUD fades into the background, except when critical info needs to be displayed. The on-screen messages (BGS or Talkative Compass, I don't recall which) just looks a little crowded because the shot was taken in TAF=0.06 mode. In real-time they don't stay there long at all.

Nah - not for me, all that clutter! In reality, I'm flying a P51 Mustang, with nothing but the basic pulse-laser crosshairs and an instrument panel (not even that, at times - it's cool flying without any hud at all).

I kinda like elements of the numeric HUD, speed I like expressed as a number for example. Also if all those numbers are running and constantly changing the HUD kind of has this nice 'augmented vision' aspect to it as if the data is being fed directly to the pilots visual cortex. On another note...Cool guys don't look at explosions.

The preceding 2 seconds before the above screenshot...Contraband this, dirty lawdog!...and here is a nice shot of a station from Thargoid's stunning Wildships OXP.So there ya go, figured I'd better keep myself busy PPing a few screens, I'm keeping an eye out for a ship requisition order to arrive from Mandotech Industries and I'm in danger of crossing the spam line on the BB while I'm hanging around waiting lol.

Good - you'll see the size limits etc, and name them with your initials or something! One thing - call me 'dude' again, and I'll come huntin' you, and you really don't want Rolling Thunder on your six, believe me, son!PS - only joking!

Lol, I guess I do say dude a lot when I get excited... which is often, however I shall endevour to refrain, at least until such time as some form of multiplayer Vs mode may become viable... and then sir, we shall see how well Rolling Thunder fares on my six. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_razz.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> (actually with Elite: Dangerous that situation may well become a reality so maybe I ought to pipe down now lol).I saw some pretty wild stuff from Captain Murphy in the image repository for 1.77, the new system redux planet shots.... holy wow!

Heh... I've been flying a Cobra Mk III (in one format or another) for a quarter of a century, on and off. But a multi-player game - which I'm not a fan of at all [snips long anecdote] - would be very different for me indeed, especially with any flavour of Newtonian flight. But given equal ships and flight controls (quality 'sticks etc)... well, who can tell!

I will be interested to see how DB handles that, but I'll probably play in single-player mode (if possible). I reckon that quite a few players who think themselves Top Guns would come down a peg or two, as it happens... heh.

Very true.Generally I prefer single player too (probably for similar reasons), but to test ones skill against another human can be cool, just to see if you are as good as you think (or in my case, to confirm it... hah! <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_razz.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> )...and Elite: Dangerous better have single player, otherwise it's gonna be just another mmo (albeit probably a very good one) and that will severly limit it's options imo. Also getting ganked by some 12 year old in an Asp (with a cash shop military laser, oh please no) when you're trying to mine asteroids will probably get old quickly.I'm hoping for small scale mp, like private server style where you have a small group who are all cool.On a totally unrelated note, do you think it would be ok to use KZ999's rank badges?I was reading the BB and it seems he's not about, I'd like to use the ratings badges on my HUD or something similar, but I don't want to annoy anyone if they start popping up in my screenshots.Speaking of which, this is a screenshot thread and I'm running my mouth into overdrive again.*zips it.* <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

See my sig - that's KZ's Elite rank badge from Rolling Thunder's dashboard (which has appeared in quite a few pics). Had it for yarons! Go right ahead and slap one on your personal hud! If it was for OXP use - that would probably be cool too, but I think courtesy would require at least a PM to KZ.

Personal only, I'm making a transponder screen for my Deepspace HUD (great modular design, easy to clone and add new screens) to contain legal stats, elite ranking (distinctly average atm lol) etc.I'm making a few in advance so I can just switch them in as things change.KZ has some great resources for download, interesting stuff like the draft manual etc.

It's a long haul up to Elite rank - but when you stop counting the kills, and start counting the ROCs - then you're on your way!

tbh it's not something I'm actively pursuing but the count just seems to keep rising, if foolish pirates (or cops) get in the way of a "legitimate businessman" like myself then I must defend myself....and if said Pirate decides to run, I must pursue until there is nothing left of him but scrap, for the greater good of the galaxy you understand....and if someone offers me credits to hunt down and destroy certain individuals like some unrelenting hammer of vengeance, well it's a poor businessman that doesn't take a good deal when he sees it.I don't want to be killing these guys (honestly, I swear), but I have no choice, it's a hard life out in the black and I have a ship's cat to feed.

I think that particular tussle lasted nearly an hour - we were both worn-down some!
