Sanchi - if you download and extract this file: http://spacesimcentral.com/downloads/Starshatter_TGS/Starshatter%20_TGS_v5.05_Full.7z you'll get a folder named "Starshatter The Gathering Storm." Copy that file to where you want the run the game from, again I'd recommend avoiding "Program Files." I just put mine right off of C:\, but I think Brad listed the actual original game path in his post, which should work as well.In that folder, you'll find a file named "player.cfg." Move that somewhere else or delete it; it contains the player set up details for the person that originally packaged up this version of the game, and while it doesn't prevent the game from running it does stop the automatic new player setup from happening. Look in the "Starshatter The Gathering Storm" folder again, and find "Starshatter.exe." Right-click the file and select "Properties." Go to the "Compatibility" tab, tick the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and then select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2). On the same tab below where it says "Settings" tick the box for "Disable desktop composition."Make a shortcut from this file to your desktop, and name it "Starshatter TSG." Double click the icon you just created on your desktop, and the game should run and start the new player auto set up.At least that's what I did, and I'm not having any problems playing or with stability. Hope that helps!

Hallo panzerde, thanks for your advises, sounded promising, already saw myself terminating enemy carriers, followed exactly your instructions .... but didn't work

still get the 0xc000007b error I'm running out of ideas, download it again, not to my desktop, not to program files, do again what you told me. and pray.

I would make sure you are running as Administrator and you could try some of the XP compatibility modes as well even know I didn't need to use them to run on Win7 x64.

sanschi,I've been reading up on your problem and as far as I can tell it seems to be caused by trying to run a 64 bit program in a 32 bit environment. So my first question is, do you have 32 bit or 64 bit windows 7?Bradd

I'm also reading a lot of pointers to corrupted registry and/or malware infection issues. You might want to check that if you don't commonly have something running to prevent malware. It may also be that you're getting bad downloads.

Hallo friends. The answer is: YEs.

I found out this error message was only some kind of a collateral damage because I had really messed up certain things:My first problem was this error message: D3DX9_43.dll missingI made the mistake to download that single file. Instead I had to actualize my whole directX:Found this answer: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/can-i-install-directx-90c-on-windows-7-64-bits/40bdb8fd-a9ce-405b-a05b-5f57d3efa4c7And installed that: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35So the first problem was solved. The second problem was that error message: msvcr100.dll missingI made the mistake to download that single file again... Don't do that either

Instead I found out it's a part of Microsofts Visual C++.So I downloaded this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/de-de/details.aspx?familyid=BD512D9E-43C8-4655-81BF-9350143D5867&displaylang=deBecause x64 is for 64 bit systems. Didn't work.So I downloaded the "old" x86 version (for 32 bit systems) here:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/de-de/details.aspx?FamilyID=a7b7a05e-6de6-4d3a-a423-37bf0912db84&displayLang=deSo the second problem was solved.I also actualized my craphic card drivers, that was probably not necessary, but also nice to find out for me how to do :)After that no more error messages occured, I could run the program without compatibility mode.So you see, I just made stupid mistakes, but I think other might have the same problem. That's why I posted this detailed solution. Sorry, found no better technique to put in my links

Thank you again for your support mates!See ya later in the tactics discussion

Hola amigosI'm enjoying .. let's say part of it, I like the atmosphere this game produces, it has a lot of charme and seems to be a special perl (and I've seen X, Babylon Project, Wing Commander Saga, Freelancer, Space Force, Armada 2526, Elite Starfighter, Galactic Civ, Dark Star One, Evochron Mercenary and Dark Horizon). But: I only managed to run single missions (have not yet tried multiplayer), but no campaigns, AND: NO TRAINING MISSIONS. And I really would need some of them.In the single missions menu one can choose a mission and select "accept". fine. When I press "start" or "campaign" I will have the choice between "Live Fire" (that should be the training missions, right?) and "Highland". So I choose "Live Fire" and find myself in an intro "Training Shuttle Proteus - Borova Orbit". At the end of the intro I dock at a big ship ("Task Force 3.7 - CA 524 - Stalwart"), then the screen "Starshatter - the Gathering Storm" and then an "Operational Command" screen. There one can read: "To begin the first mission, click the mission button on the left side of the screen." If I do that I get a nice list: "Basic Space Flight", "Target Practice", "Flight School" ... exactly what I need..But how do I choose such a mission? There is only "save" and "exit". I pushed every single button I found. Can't start them.Same Problem with campaign "highland": I get a list of missions: "MSN-009 Assault Frigate.." but can't start them, only "save" and "exit".Please help

As soon as you click on one of the missions, you should be able to click on the accept button right below the window with the missions list. Not all the way down were save and exit are but up and to the left a bit. Refer to the following screen shot I took. If you do not have an accept button there, then there might be a problem with you install of the game. Hopefully it's there and you just missed it. If not let me know and I'll try to figure out what's going on.

me again. looked at your screenshoot and thought: didn't it look different in my game? BIGGER?

there is a phenomena called resolution.

with better resolution there could be an accept button rising just out of nothing. and worse: For how long would I have played that game with bad resolution if I wouldn't have had that problem?

just go on please and don't mention it again

All the links to the downloads section here redirect to the home page, and the current SS:TGS download is corrupted and I can't open it in Winrar.

yes since the site was redone, any of the links to content more than likely are broken. This is because phpbb and ipboard use two different url creation methods. I tried to get it close but its not happening sorry about that. People should be able to edit the posts or I can do it.

Yes, I believe that I was able to salvage all of the files from the old site before William shut down his FTP site. He graciously kept it open for me so that I had time to get them all. If anyone notices a particular file that they wanted from the old site that by chance didn't make it here, let me know because chances are it is on my hard drive.

Salutations,A complete version (5.0.5) is also available for download at www.starshattermods.net. This version does NOT include the multiplayer aspect. Which, by the way, was never well implemented.

Hi,I'm mostly interested in this type of space / flight sims, so I surely want to take a look at Starshatter TGS. I understand that the game has become Open Source and additional versions and lots of mods have been released. Apart the huge download section here, I've mainly got 2 links for the game: starsattermods.net homepage, http://www.starshattermods.net/news.php Are these 2 links related to the same developed/modified game and is the game version of the link above in any way related to the Full 5.05 version on this site ?Also does the 5.05 version here include all the Voice and Music files? Many thanks for the info,XenonS
