I love that song! Such a beautiful voice, shame she died so young! On the subject of time...

A legendary pirate radio station is to host a special three-day broadcast to mark its 60th anniversary. Radio Caroline defied the authorities when it started broadcasting non-stop pop music, offshore, on 28 March 1964.

I feel old... very old!

Worry not Cody. Radio Caroline used to finish many a program with a song from this band. Let the years fall away with this archive footage!

Like submarines? Read the story of HMS Venturer.

She is the only submarine in history to have sunk another while both were submerged.

The British sub did well, given how primitive the targetting computer they were using at the time. These days, of course, it's a different matter. Purpose built hunter killer subs prowl the oceans looking for other subs. During the Cold War, the Soviets and the West had "great fun" chasing each other around the place. Thankfully, no one fired a weapon but only pings at each other. Let's hope it stays that way, but of late, I do worry somebody, somewhere is going to do something really stupid.......

I have no idea how accurate The Hunt For Red October is (I suspect extremely NOT accurate) but it is great fun

I suspect it wasn't very accurate either, but that dangerous "game" of hide and seek was played out over and over all through the Cold War. It's how both sides refined and honed their tactics and technology. It's still going on too, somewhere beneath the waves...
