Hi there,on this way I want to introduce our space trading game wolf-359.Travel from planet to planet. Trade goods. Explore new worlds and make a living as privateer, merc or outlaw - that is the game Wolf 359 is about. The game is in the style of the legendary Elite and so a lot of content will be similar to that great game but of course it won't be an Elite II.What's all about? The player starts his adventure as the protagonist Max de Laudry with an old ship of the Mantis class, hunted by a secret organisation which tries to possess the data crystal of his father. Having a poor equipment and only a few credits the player has the choice to trade goods, take assignments or to become illegal immediately.A short vid on youtube: info on our Website: http://www.wolf-359.de/index_en.html Sung

Have any screenshots or even better a video of some in-game combat?I was browsing your forums really quick and i couldn't really find a feature list. Sung can you give the lowdown on what you will be able to do in your game?

Hi,I'm the programmer of that game.Solnicaris, combat isn't actually there but it will come. At the moment I work on the docking part (which works) and all the menus - pretty boring stuff. ;)There will be combat of course. The gameplay will be like Elite (without the newtonian physics model because it's no fun in most cases).

I would have to agree there never did like teh physics aspect of some of the space games. Will this be a SP or MP game? And will it be an open world (ie: go anywhere and do anything) and will we be able to land on planets?

Hi Solnicaris,it will be SP and Wolf-359 will be an open world like Elite. Planet landings will not be possible.

Not in this first version I'd like to add. ;) It's planned for the future but we want to release a first version without this (delaying) stuff first.

What time table you looking at Xaron for your first alpha release for people to play with?

Might be by the end of this year I guess - maybe earlier in a very rough state. ;)BTW: As far as I see this thread is in the wrong section. Sorry for that. It won't be an open source game...

If it will be F2P then it's ok here for now :) I relabeled the categories. Any new progress? Oh and added a link to your site on my links page :)

Thanks!Yes me make some decent progress:First: Trading works now, here you can see the trading screen after docking a station:I've build in a simple star map as well. Selecting systems and jumping between them now works as well:The map hasn't been finished yet so it's still a draft but it shows the direction. The next thing will be a huge HUD improvement plus 1-2 enemies to test that stuff and get some kind of action into it. :DSo the basics are there, more stuff to come. :)

Great progress since the last time you posted thanks Sung and Xaron.Nice to see most of the pieces are falling into place and the only thing that will be left is touching it up graphically. Is that music from the game itself? How many items will we be able to trade and can we salvage destroyed ships?Oh on posting videos, if you notice in the posting screen I have some buttons (ie: google, youtube, etc) if you click on that and then stick your link to the video in between it should embed it (just use the preview button). I have a tutorial in the admin area.

Thanks Darkone for the help.Xaron is working on the games basics. After we had finished the "engine" it's time to make it bigger and nicer. The music is not from the game, it's only a placeholder for the vids. Actually there is no sound in the game.Salvage ship (goods), action, combat and exploration are the main points in the game.

Any ideas Sung on the scope of the universe? (ie: how many star systems to explore, any other docking possibilities other than stardocks, etc...)

I would like to give this question to Xaron, because he is the programmer. Exploring will be a big part of the game. Different space stations, giant ships, asteroids and secret hidden bases would i like to see in the game. I see no problem to make it. But first we need to finish the game mechanics.

There will be very many systems. As those systems will be generated mostly procedural there is no real limit. For the first version we will allow docking only for stations but I'd like to introduce planet landing later as well.
