Hey guys,The game is finally available and up for sale. It's $19.99, and DRM free. You can read more about the system requirements and stuff here:http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-SALVATION/salvation-prophecyGeraldine, you're pretty quick on the draw. I wouldn't want to face you in a shoot-out. :P

Congrats on getting Salvation Prophecy out to the public Jabberwocky, I hope it does well because you have been working on this for quite some time. Is GamersGate going to do any promos (like ads on the frontpage or email to the subscriber base) to let people know about SP release?

Hey DarkOne,I don't know much about GamersGate's process. It is showing up under new releases on the webpage right now. I think most of the publicity will be through gaming review sites. I've started sending out a few review codes already. Hopefully I get a few bites.

Do you think that might be a possibility in the future? Your game is DRM free so it would fit right in over there! <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Yep, if you play the demo, when it's done it'll auto-save, and you can continue where you left off in the full game.

Yeah, I like GOG a lot. That might happen. The whole business side of things is way tougher than you'd think it would be. Especially for a guy who loves making games, but hates business stuff. ;)

It was just a thought as according to my Spacesim-o-meter â„¢, I picked up quite a few blips over there around the releases of the Freespace, I-War and the WC games. There is a healthy contingent of fans of the genre on the boards there, plus it gives you another outlet for your customers to get the game. Of course, like you said it does have to make business sense first. If you want a dev's view on GOG, I suggest you ask one of the guys who made Grimrock. Their game is on there as well as Steam. Perhaps one of them might be able to advise you? Link: http://www.grimrock.net/blog/ I hope your game does well <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

You can easily backup games purchased from Gamersgate yourself. Just wait until the client has finished downloading your game of choice, then look for a folder called 'Gamersgate Temporary Files' (usually in the same directory as the launcher executable) which should contain another folder which has the DRM-free setup files. It is much easier than it sounds and is what I do to backup all of my games purchased from there.

You have to copy the setup.exe away during install. While the installer runs, Gamersgate's launch file in the temporary files folder is renamed to it's original (.exe) name.

Yes, this is the best way to do it. I should perhaps have specified to not close the installer before copying the files. Even if you did, though, you could always just rename the file yourself (provided you told the client to keep the files and have file extensions enabled in your Windows Explorer).

Wow, this place is sure looking spiffy! Nice job on the site design, DarkOne.Thanks fadrad and deepseaweed for the GamersGate instructions. The game was intentionally sold DRM-free so people could reinstall it as they see fit. But it looks like there's still a couple hoops to jump through.

Thanks PINBACK!I don't know how many publishers would be interested in making a boxed version for an indie space game. But I'll keep an eye out for any good opportunities.

Thanks Jabberwocky. I hope Salvation Prophecy is meeting your expectations so far after release, do you see any deals happening with Steam or any of the other digital download websites? I know Amazon sells digital downloads as well. Want to see it do well so we can see a sequel or at least some DLC/new areas/factions.I will try to get a review out soon, I just have been busy with the site. But a lot of the game is still fresh in my mind so I can least write informatively <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Cool. Also I really appreciate your feedback on the faction command aspect of the game D1. I think I was able to fix a lot of those issues for the initial release.

Man, what a time to come out. Summer is the absolute busiest time of the year for me. I'll pick it up soon, but I don't see myself playing it for a while. Hope its selling well!
