couple of bit of new concept art [url]http://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/new-concept-art-fan-spotlight/[/url] First up is Tyrol, a red giant bordering Banu territory that is preparing to go supernova. We’re hoping Tyrol ends up being a great place to expand Star Citizen with live events, possibly chronicling tensions between humans and the Banu… or a disaster surrounding the effects of the nova on the inhabited planet Like this one. And this is Beijing, the third landout city on Earth. development subscribers got a sneak peak at Beijing in this month’s Jump Point, but this shot has changed radically even since that was published! New York is a good place to buy ships and see the sights, Moscow is a good place for upgrades… and Beijing is the home to Earth’s black market (among other things!) The Beijing art is by Josh Kao, who is working on both Earth and Terra!

Tyrol looks pretty darn cool, I need to sit down and really read the Star Citizen site because the concept art looks great and I would hope its not just going to be some what live backgrounds as in Freelancer. I do hope they really lay out the differences and make it sound convincing because Earth = Terra, so to have two different planets with the same name is a tad confusing.

It should simply be called "New Terra", much like "New York/London/Tokyo/Berlin" in Freelancer.

Bounty hunters [url]http://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/concept-art-bounty-hunters/[/url] This is artwork and not an in-engine render, but it shows you the direction we’re going for for player characters (and NPCs!) You can get an idea of the kinds of facial customization we’d like to allow, plus a sample of the sorts of armor, headgear and weapons you will be using. More than that, though, this piece shows off the look and the feel we want to get into the universe’s grittier corners, evolving realistic military gear to a logical 30th century version!

Pictured here is the look-and-feel concept art for the Arccorp Bar in the Stanton System. The Star citizen universe will be full of places like this where you’ll meet fixers to get missions, overhear the latest rumors about the universe around you and enjoy a drink or two.These look and feel pieces are created to give level designers an idea of what the planets, stations and other areas they’re building are supposed to look like. they aren’t the final look of the game, but they’re a good example of what we’re striving for! Should look good when it is turned into 3D.

Today we would like to share some of the concept art selected by Technical Artist Forrest Stephan. Forrest showed off some of the basic hangar today on Wingman’s Hangar and now you can study some of the work that went into it in more detail. Take note of how the artists create a variety of different fixtures—lights, pipes, fans and other details—which can then be displayed in the CryEngine in different ways. Stay tuned for more information on the hangar as we approach the day you’ll first visit your very own home in the Star Citizen universe!

New Caterpillar art models.[url]https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13242-New-Caterpillar-Art[/url] Over the weekend we shared some new renders of the Drake Interplanetary Caterpillar transport with the community at DragonCon and now we’d like to post them for everyone to enjoy. These renders, by artist Jim Martin, should give you a good idea of the look we’re going for with the ‘Cat!The concept behind the Caterpillar is that it’s the Freelancer’s “evil twin,†a pirate-oriented transport capable of tractoring in all varieties of ill-gotten loot. Mean and modular are the watchwords here.

We thought we would end the week with your first look at an alien world: the Xi’An industrial planet of Rihlah IV. Located just across the border, Rihlah is an ideal destination for traders looking to acquire goods not found in UEE space. The Rihlah System was unlocked by backers during the July livestream event; you can find a full description in the unlock Comm-Link.These pieces of concept art, showing ground and aerial views of the planet, are the initial ‘look and feel’ pieces that our level designers and artists will use to create the location itself. The aerial shot is what a player should see when landing on the planet and the ground shot is the initial landing area where you will get out of your ship and walk around. Both pieces were developed by artist Dennis Chan with the goal of indicating a unique and distinctly non-human style.You’ve previously seen how we’ve taken Terra from stage to interactive environment… now imagine how cool it will be to explore a truly alien world!

I bought a Catepillar yesterday ... seems like a nice ship ... I hope there is a possibility to remove the boarding equipment to increase the storage space

Greetings Citizens,We’ve had a number of backers write in to ask what the status of the Asteroid Hangar. Also known aas the Pirate Hangar, the Asteroid Hangar is the upcoming fourth environment type for the Hangar Module. Citizens who have purchased the Drake Cutlass will have access to the hangar as soon as it launches.To answer your question, the Asteroid Hangar is still in the works! It has been concepted, as you see here, and is currently being built by the Hangar Team. The Asteroid Hangar has been designed in such a way that it can expand to support larger ships, like the Drake Caterpillar, as needed. Expect to see it in action in a future update.
