Ive been playing pioneer for ages now, and the one thing ive been wanting for ages is to have larger ships added to the game, playable and NPC ones. Ive made a lot of .3Ds and .0bj ships so far but im quite new to modding and 3D texturing, so far all ive done is actually make the models of various ships, but i dont know how to uv unwrap and then edit it to make it a usable ship (or a NPC model) for the game, ps im using Blender. any help would be great

Hi kingcheese and welcome to the SSC. I think your best bet is to drop by the Pioneer dev forum as you should be able to get tons of advice there, here is a link.

Yes, welcome! Is that first ship your work? If so I may be asking you for help with Blender! The second one could probably be used as a mod, maybe even be added to the game, depending on the author's wishes. Anyway I like it. I like them both. Here's some links to modeling pages. Hi kingcheese! That textured one is a SolCommand model, right? We sure aim to add as many quality content to Pioneer as possible, so contributors are much welcome.

The dev forum is a good place to start up a ship if you intend it to be in the official game. You can say hi on the IRC channel too, and I can help you and give feedback if we happen to be in sync regarding to timezones (GMT+1 for me). I can be a nitpicker sometimes, but don't get discouraged by that, we all want to push ourselves and the content of Pioneer further and further after all.

@Marcel: thanks for reminding me to that LOD-ing note, I'll move that to the wiki. And those content creation pages need a lot of love too.
