I remember it as a 2d top down game. You could play against the ai or a friend. There was only a few ships to choose from and the goal was to destroy the opponent. You could buy better ships, shields and projectiles. Some projectiles would follow your opponent while other would fall towards the edge of the screen.I think the game is from around 1990-1995`ish but i am not sure. The game had a resemblance to Maelstrom. And for some reason i remember a goat bleating while playing this game o_O Anyway, any input would be appreciated

I don`t think that's the one (looks cool though). I remember that you would fight within the screen (no scrolling). You were able to purchase better thrusters and shields. You could also get mines and turrets.

StarControl would have been my guess as well.So it maybe a similar game not sure where the goat come in, in less it was a "mutant star goat", then again it could be a Jeff Minter game. :gamer: Do you remember what system you played it on ie PC, Amiga/St, 8bit computer or console.

Found an old forum post which describes the game in more detail. Unfortunately, he is also looking for the name of the game "Basically you chose a ship (or customized one) and duked it out with another player (hotseat). The ship customization was "here's a graphic, here's three dozen mount points, guns have 3 stats: power, direction, speed" and you had so many points you could spend making more guns or making better guns (direction was free, obviously) so you could make a ship that only shot behind it (for the cowards) or in several directions (for the shotgun types) or few very heavy damage forward guns (for the stupidly brave). In-game powerups included seeking missiles, freeze shots, orbiter-bullets (would impact on enemy bullets to protect or impact on the enemy player for damage, in either case that bullet (of a dozen or so) was destroyed), and a few others."

Was it on DOS or Windows (95/98)? I'd like to know more about this game too. Random guess: This looked sorta fits the description, minus the customization part

I am not sure. It was a long time ago. The game you suggested resembles it. It was a arena versus game with newtonian physics.
