I thought there was already a post about Star Wars 7 but I couldn't find it so if everyone doesn't know this is in the works...I found a little tidbit today:J.J. Abrams started filming in May. Disney has set the release date for Dec. 18, 2015, with a new film every year for at least five years.Am I reading that right... I think that is a mistake personally. The last three films suffered a bit and you would think with a release schedule like this that quality would suffer. Or they want to make sure they finish movies before the now old Luke, Han and Leia are still alive and healthy. Another tidbit is that C3PO might not be in the movies but R2D2 will be. Will be interesting how the fans will treat the new SW movies and Disney is taking a expensive gamble. Yeah the movies will make money regardless but could they be epic movies?JJ Abrams already stated that he will not be directing the next Star Trek movie

I've gotten to the point where I don't think it can possibly be any worse than the prequels, which doesn't mean it won't be unfathomably awful. I don't think Star Wars will ever be to me what it was before Episode 1 came out. Ever since 1999 Star Wars has a had a taint in my mind, much exacerbated by the fact that so much of the marketing and merchandising since the prequels came out has strongly acknowledge their existence. So, I wish Disney and Abrams all the best in their efforts, which isn't quite a vote of confidence, just modest hopefulness. On the other hand, perhaps the prequels are very gradually being forgotten, and phased out? Or is that just wishful thinking on my part? If it's a real trend, then bad sequels can only make the matter worse. One thing that sort of bothers me is that they have de-canonized all of the novels which take place after the original trilogy. Granted, normally this would seem like a good thing, as licensed, serialized novels are usually contemptible trash, but as far as I know these are some of the most loved licensed serial novels ever written (names? I can't remember any, certainly not everything that fits the description was actually good). My memories of them are quite positive (though it has been so long since I've read one of these I certainly wouldn't trust my younger self's ability to judge). Anyway, if my perceptions of any of these novels are correct, it's certainly one more potential reason to hate botched sequel films. I for one will miss the FreiTek E-wing, which starting next year will probably never have been born.

IIRC the only reason JJ Abrams did Star Trek was because he was allowed to reboot the series, could be the same case with these new Starwars film as they have dumped all the lore which takes place after ROJ. I think they should have started the prequels with the 3rd film as everyone would have liked to have seen Darth Vader going on the rampage and how the rebels got started rather than the nonsense we got with the first two prequels.

Oh I agree Blah64, and Disney will probably save more money developing a few movies back to back like they are planning. But you would think they would at least wait until the first one comes out to see the reaction and if they hit the jackpot then you know your movies will sell well. Especially with the downturn in movie theater revenue that all the producers are complaining about I would think it would be a risk to just commit to the movies especially after what we have received in movies from the SW franchise over the past 10yrs. I think JJ Amrams should be given a blank check and tell him to make a Star Wars he would feel proud to say its his, I think he did a great job with the reboot of Star Trek and I hope he brings that same magic to Star Wars.

Well you know what StormTrooper are like, "worst shoots in the galaxy" in less you count the Cylons from the original BSG who were probably even worst. :haha:

With the Cylons it's understandable. After all it must be hard to aim at anything with only one eye going back and forth involuntary! So I will broke no excuses on the part of Storm troopers! :girlcrazy:
