Conspiracy Theory: Big Brother

Is anybody watching this show? I kinda like it.. Jesse is the man, but I am always suspicious of big media propaganda. Regardless, at least he seems to be filling a niche and spreading some of the better known "conspiracies" to the sheeple. The trend towards a surveillance society is never a good option for protecting civil liberties. So what are they really protecting with all these cameras and technology?

Oh yeah Shingen, some good stuff in these videos :) Never knew this show existed. I don't get this station on my cable tv so I will have to keep a watch on youtube for these.

Wow, this is a LOT better than I ever would have guessed. Thanks for posting it, Shingen!I have seen this show on the TV listings, but ignored it: (1) because of the name (most conspiracy theories are wildly sensationalized -- if not complete bunk) and (2) because of Jesse's fame as a big-time wrestler. On the other hand, I have to give him credit for coming forward and blowing the whistle on the CIA sending a goon squad to debrief/intimidate him after he was elected governor. If more people knew what really goes on in our government, they would be much more concerned about the Patriot Act, the HIPAA [no-more-]privacy act, and all of the other Big Brother-ish activity going on.I suppose it is hard to intimidate an ex-SEAL. But, if they tried it with him, you have to wonder how many other similar or related stories there are which involve other important people.

There's a flip side to this coin. How many times have you guys heard about or seen a show on a murderer/rapist who they can't find or put away and thought to yourself "wouldn't it be nice if he was on surveillance"? I watch Forensic Files religiously and it's a common theme for me. I realize it's probably wrong, logically, and a well reasoned case could be made against it, but I got no problems with cameras. Bring'em on...except for traffic lights. ;)

That's where you bring in the big IF though Shant. If you allow recordings of everything we do and have them be stored or used for later or to incriminate you then there could be some issues. Yes, you may have the person on tape that did the crime but then now more money must be spent because they can claim it isn't them and that this tape is edited.Generally I have your thoughts on this matter that I don't care because I don't intend on breaking the laws so it shouldn't be a big deal to me. I know how do I know this isn't happening all ready? I would expect in certain places like airports, government builds and high profile areas they are observed and taped. I know they have the facial recognition software out now that they can have live camera feeds and on the fly this program can check everyone and compare them to a watch list. This is the software I don't mind at all as long as it is all real time stuff and they aren't archiving innocent peoples movements.I live out in the country basically so this type of technology will never make it out here :)

So just make a law to go with the cameras that archived footage can only be used in conjunction with a criminal prosecution. IE, unless someone's on trial for murder, rape, theft, or assault, their footage can't be used for any reason. Problem solved.

Laws are never cut and dry like that they would put some loop hole in there to use this stuff for other things.
