Just came across this movie, its considered the top grossing movie of all time in China and with the trailer and special effects you could see why. Cannot wait to see this one, so I hope it hits Netflix.

I couldn’t make head or tales of the plot!
Sun gets too big. Solution: move Earth to Alpha Centauri. Result: chaos!
While passing Jupiter, Earth is captured by its gravity. Result: chaos!
Ignite Jupiter in order to escape. Result: chaos!

I need to keep an eye for this.
Film seem to have the same idea as a couple of Japanese films, 1963 Gorath in which engines are fitted to Earth to move it out of the way of a giant planetoid on a collision course and 1983 Sayonara Jupiter in which a black hole is coming to get Earth although they end up flinging Jupiter into it.

I like the movie concept just because it is way out there and reminds me a lot of some anime cartoons I have seen in the past with this similar concept. I just want to see how they accomplish this huge visual task and from the looks of the trailer it looks like a huge popcorn flick that you can just sit back and have fun with. Just hoping it comes to Netflix.

D1 you were mentioning anime cartoons, unless I'm mistaken this also reminds of some comics in the 70's and 80's with similar spectacular plots. However contrary to drawings in that case the visuals look very realistic, hence the striking contrast! But very interesting and impressive for sure.

Watched this on Netflix before I left on vacation and I really enjoyed it, yeah it had some comedy in there but the action was pretty solid, the effects are great in this movie and I intend to watch it again with my son soon. Its worth the watch.
