Hello I just found this site was on a Google Search for any and all Space Combat Game/Simulator Information. You folks have been asking the same question that I have been for a long while now (where did all the Space Sims Go?). I have been playing the things for as long as I can remember and I can't remember one that I didn't at least try the demo for (if one was available). Mine you my love of such came naturally given my love of Science Fiction (Books, Movies, TV, ANIME and RPGs). By the way, speaking on RPGs there is one by an outfit from Canada called Dream Pod 9 IMHO which fits into a special niche into Space Combat Games - Jovian Chronicles. While the game has Traditional Space fighters, Bombers and Captial Ships it also has Armored Exo Suits ala Gundam albeit of a far more reasonable size. If anyone here has ever played the game Heavy Gear 2; the space missions (with realistic Zero-G Physics) of that game were originally intended for a Jovian Chronicles Sim, but that idea was dropped by the "suits" at Activision. I would love to be able to have that kind of mix in a Space Sim today.Well, in closing I'm glad I have found this board and I can't wait to participate more in the days and weeks to come.DarKenK

Hello farcodevI didn't know about Jovian Chronicles (J.C.) until I met a DP-9 rep at a SciFi Convention near Hamilton Ontario Canada some years ago. After seeing the RPG and the rep telling me that the Space Missions in Heavy Gear 2 were originally designed as a tech demo for J.C. I have ALWAYS wanted those armor suits with their hand held weapons in another Space Combat Game; sadly this hasn't happened yet. However given that there has been enough in the Space Combat genre to keep me busy over the years and given this site has information on games that I have never seen (or will ever see) in stores I think I will be occupied for a while. Thanks for the welcome and the reply!!!!DarKenK

Hello GUNSMIFI've been into Anime since my "early" college days watching a series that used to be shown at here in Buffalo weekdays at 3:30pm; STARBLAZERS (what I eventually found out was originally called Space Cruiser Yamato!!). Mine you the fighter combat scenes in StarBlazers/Yamato coupled of course with Star Wars (which was released the same year I saw StarBlazers) lead me naturally to Space Combat Sims as soon as I was able to get a PC years later. Oh by the way, I haven't read enough of this board's discussions yet, but does anyone here talk about a game called StarShatter (or its sequel SS:The Gathering Storm)??? A group of fans on the SS Mod Site have developed a StarBlazers Complete Mod. I haven't tried it yet given "stuff" but the pictures I have seen look rather impressive. You might want to check it outSpeaking of real life, our almost 3 year son and our two other kids have kept me away from models for a long while as well. Mine you given work and family obligations something had to give. Lately my wife on the other hand has demanded that I do something with my un-built model collection (BUILD THEM OR SELL THEM). She is leaning more towards the build part, Thank the Stars

!!!Thanks for the Reply and the Welcome!!!DarKenK

I haven't played this yet personally just because I here both good and bad things about the game and the support that it gets. If they have a current demo I would give it a try.
