I run JupiterSoft and have spent about twenty years working in software and startups. I also just really enjoy making games.Some favorites are the Rama books, Kerbal Space Program, Master of Orion II, RimWorld and Oxygen Not Included. ONI and RimWorld are especially relevant to the idea I've had rattling around for a couple of years: mixing connected life-support systems with the life of a little colony, on Mars.
That turned into Red Hope, which I'm working on now. It's still early, but there's a playable browser demo. Mars seemed like a sensible place to make plumbing everyone's problem.
Performance is a big interest of mine. Longer term, I'd like the simulation to support much larger colonies, so I'm putting thought into that foundation while figuring out what makes the small colony enjoyable. I want it to feel like somewhere you get attached to.
I found SSC while looking for people who enjoy this sort of thing, and figured I'd say hello. Looking forward to seeing what you're playing and building.
