Found these vids on youtube, they come from Eves fanfest and show the walking in station expansion for the game.Never played Eve myself and I’ am not much of a fan of online games but it is interesting to see where they are going with this.I just noticed that the vid said fanfest 2008 but the posting of the vid is march 2010?

I like this a lot. CCP is really making an epic MMO and they listen to the community. Even with the funny buggy moments the new avatars and walkable stations and apartments are a good touch and I remember them saying that everyone will have quarters on all stations.

Yes those vids are from 2008, they made a test in engine if it's capable doing indoor environment together with character interaction. It was too early than in 2008 to make this available because issues with server load and lag. Those issues are present even today. Eve changed python core to 64 bit and graphics went up from 2008 so soon we will walk in Jita station space and maybe have some nice sex in our private quarters.

Ain't that the truth. But CCP is going in the right direction with this. This just adds another layer of interaction with all the players and I think will be a huge success for them in the long run.... even without the sex in the quarters

CCP is catching up on new ideas.It will be tougher now for infinity to steal the crowd.Personally i wish ccp would file for bankruptcy but it won't.

Seeing the good job that the EVE team has been doing these years I believe they will manage to pull this one off. I can see a lot of ways this new feature will help gameplay and I might just return to playing the game when they release this update.

I don’t think they going for any sort of RPG element to the game I have the impression that they are trying to create some sort of social environment for the players to act in.

Agreed. This may sound funny but I seem to connect more with actual avatars than ship avatars. It does promote more socialization in my opinion.

Your most likely entirely correct, EVE Online at least in my opinion is only worth playing if you have friends that play the game be them real life friend or people you have come to know in the corporation your part of. Without the social interaction that EVE promotes the game imho would die, walking in stations will just add a new depth for social interaction for general players and the role playing (nothing to do with RPG in any way.) corporations that exist in the game.

It would be cool if you could actually look out of a station window and see the ships outside in real time, especially during a full blown fleet battle!

Nice idea but is not the combat in Eve point click wait.
