Cool game. Spent A little time exploring. Do you have interesting places? Post them here.Starting with the splendid peaks of Ross 128 EAlpha centauri B I has very nice mountainsLanded on a mountain topThen headed of for Morton Starport (wow scenic place) but even after having confirmation I could't dock. But this is too cool. Maybe the game should have a pure exploration mode in which you can disable the pirates pure for this sort of fun. So do you have any favorite places

why sorry, i like the pics here to.i wonder how you find that nice places in such a short time, you must have played intensively allways when i'm off to find a nice looking world, i didn't find one, maybe youve got a lucky hand for that :Dbut i guess ross 128e and alpha centauri Bi are on my list for some presaved starting positions for commander Jameson.besides of Solo b, which i like because of the orange sky it has.

ok i wanted to show you a pic but it didn't worked out, the game has crashed, anyways a bit a deserted place solo b (lowercase) sector 0,7,ive uploadet a savegame together with my eagles, with a eagle lrf and 100 creds, but that works only for alpha2 release.will (or was willing) to make spme new presaved starting pos. because if you have a interdictor what else ship you will buy then? and if you exchange it to another you get a lot of money to deal with so you don't have to play really from the start and make some profit out of a few tonnes goods (i allways liked the beginning of FE2 best, getting from a noone to someone, do all the "taxi" runs to get all permissions and so on, everytime i get to the piont of bombing missions the game is finished for me after a while, nothing new to get then and a new carreer will be much more fun then, that's why i never got elite, even when i play since '95).a pic of Solo b i posted allready before,[attachment=135:2010-08-16_214050.jpg]yes, i got the same problem, looks like a bad received tv signal, hm?since i don't know, i use FastStone Capture, sadly it kills pioneer in fullscreen, because it will return to desktop but in windowed mode it works super, you can make a shot of a selected window or draw a frame around a area in a window to make screenshots to clipboard, send them to a specified editor or to save them directly as .jpg or whatever you like. there exist alot of similar programs i guess, i will (and you should to) lookout once on sourceforge.net to find a maybe even better one (save to use in fullscreen, saves directly, but didn't returns to desktop).or just use good old "printscrn" key on your keyboard and open the picture from clipboard with any paint program, e.g. gimp, or i still use good old picpub8, also Xnview (prefered to reduce the scale of pics by me, bilinear filtering on irregular sizes to) irfan view (very flexible, shows thumbnails of most formats in explorer and plays many multimedia formats directly from explorer window) and many other preview programs, will work to save it then. but then you can make only one in FS and have to return to desktop to open the pic.btw. FSCapture is free for non commercial useedit: pioneer is "save" now to return to desktop the fullscren will be closed but the task is held and it won't terminate, that's new to me and a good thing.so FSCapture will work then in FullScreen to and you can use the hotkeys to make even selectioned shots from fullscreen. :mrgreen:a quick one i've made in fullscren using rectangular selection with FSC, the "watermark has been attached automatic to,[attachment=136:2010-08-20_025049.jpg]location, ross 154h2landing on a mountains peak?ross 154h2's crumbling surface,[attachment=137:2010-08-20_031823.jpg]

i must say, no problems dockng on mortons starport on alpha centauri B i, are you shure you took the right pad?typical Pioneer quote: "damned, i was shure i took the right landing pad!"it has happened to me several times, now i'm a little more cautious, and look allways twice before i bring my ship down.

colors and light varies much from machine to machine i guessalpha centauri B i looks like ths on my computer.[attachment=138:2010-08-20_181820.jpg]anyways a nice sceneryalso the environmental sound is fantastic, falling rocks? or a distant thunder?it's true only to explore the worlds of pioneer is a fantastic timewaste, but i don't mind a fight from time to time.

Nice landing Potsmoke. I have trouble with landing on the land based star ports. I approach the pad, then ask permission and then fly to the pad. But then the door won't open. Am I doing something wrong?

first, you took the right one? the one with the orange lights flashing is showing that it's occupied (by you),usually pad 1, since we have no waiting (docked) other ships yet in pioneer.but like i said at first i often wanted to dock at pad 2 (green lights) and i thought "what the hell am i doing wrong?",

second what ship are you using? could be a trouble with one of mine i didn't recognized, because if a ship has no collision mesh you can't dock nowhere(rarely, after i knew this i tested all).to differ,no collision mesh and you simply fly through the walls, as there is nothing to check collision.landed on wrong pad, you will something like crash land (happened exactly today again to me, because i forgot to ask for permission) and the ship hangs tilted in the pad.third possibility, you forgot to engage undercarriage

but i guess i've experienced you will dock anyway with or without engaged uc, but i'm not shure, it could be. usually i forgot to disengage, because i miss the "Warning Undercarriage down (it will be destroyed by micrometorites)" :lol:oh, possiblilty 4, docking clearance time has run out, could happen, if you take to much time to land.hint, you can land even under speed control, i found out. a very safe method, because you can "stop" your ship then, and position and lineup exactly, keep speed control engaged the manual downward thrusters still works and you can land very soft, only the machine sound will stay "on" after docking, but that's something we can cope with.i guess 3200 you will have a automatic uc that engages/disengages as soon as you're in a certain distance to your target station/port. don't you think so?

still you would have to engage it manually for a rough landing.

Found Another spectacular holiday location: Giese 825 B. Some splendid Grand Canyonesce scenery can be found here. With fantastic coastal cliffs. The islands of this planet are also quite different. I made a descent to the bay where the letters 'Coastal Region' are written.and found thisThe inner lake. If you look closely you can see the area from my first high altitude picture.(it is the largest lake)

Thanks for the clues.Mmmmmmm. I use the standard ship. But I ask permission and hover very slow above the pad. You have to land on the pad to take the elevator down? Anyway I think this could be improved. I don't mean full automatic landing because that happens when someone buys a docking computer but a semi automatic guiding system for the last bit.

His name is not important.

Here's how my viewscreen displays Alpha Centauri B h. What a beautiful bon bon of a planet. Looks almost good enough to eat! It also shows something I wanted to mention. Sometimes the text is hard to read due to lack of contrast.

of course, only contact releases the docking procedure. i'm not shure if this ever will be changed or is possible at all in pioneer, since you need some "input" to release such a procedure. that could be else in fact a special button to press or a reserved point below the ship to release a "catch ship and dock it", but this would act mainly the same, imo. the "point" that releases in pioneer the docking procedure is simply the lowest poly of the collision mesh i.e. the UC.10m/s when landing, won't harm your ship. (hint, when your'e to fast docking isn't released also, but i docked once at a spacestation and had to do this a bit faster, it still worked out, except that it broke nearly my ship).besides, that's a absolutely stunning coastal line! i'm impressed. system coordinates for gliese825 are?(why haven't i seen this before, that's what slartibartfast would be so proud of, now)

Having docking be activated before contact is possible (and is done for orbital space ports). I would do a few more space station models to illustrate how it is done, but I have the artistic talent of a toilet duckI'm also impressed by the costal images, and I wrote the terrain height functions. Where did that one come from?

Can I borrow them and stick them on the screenshots section of pioneerspacesim, net?
