Hey everyone, recent talking among my friends about STO have left me craving a good space sim(Without the MMO aspect) and google led me here. So much information its all a bit much to take in :)Played my way through a few of the wing commenders back in the day (Couldnt tell you which ones) and loved freelancer when it came out.So I guess my question is where do I start these days? Im looking for a new game, plenty of space combat, preferably some economic stuff as well, upgradable ships etc etc. I was thinking of buying freelancer again (Lost my copy) and maybe trying mods but not sure where to start there either.So what games are good to try and whats worth doing in freelancer if I go down that path.*goes back to reading the rest of the forum*

Hey GormandFirst off welcome to SSC and hope you have a great time here.Sorry if it might seem overwhelming to new people to the site but trying to make SSC in to a great resource for everyone seeking a space style game. There is a lot of info on games you have probably never heard of and some you have. There is a lot of knowledgeable and friendly people here.I liked STO (wrote a beta review) but still needs more before I will commit to it. On your request on games hmmm there is a few games that could fall in this category. FL being of course the obvious, Evochron Legends, SpaceForce, Naev, Taikodom, Allegience and there is others. There is some games coming soon (this year) that are just great like Heresy War and Naumachia.Have fun posting and reading..

Welcome man !I second this: "There is some games coming soon (this year) that are just great like Heresy War and Naumachia". Meanwhile you can play the demo for heresy war and there's a bunch of really cool mods for freelancer out there, if you wanna give them a try.
