I have known about this game for a few years now and it has been progressing nicely over the past 6 months with a lot of RC releases and fixes (http://www.neurohack.com/transcendence/VersionHistory.html). Transcendence is a game like Naev or 3030 Deathwar and other top down games. I like playing this game because it is large in size and actually well done with the missions and there is a a few mods for the game as well. So give it a try and let us know what you think of it.You can find the latest version here: http://neurohack.com/transcendence/Downloads.htmlHere is a good site for mods for Transcendence: http://xelerus.de/index.php?s=modsFeatures:

Transcendence 1.0 is released
RE: Transcendence 1.0 is released
Yeah if you played .99c release and then 1.0 (10 builds) you can see all the differences and gameplay. The game is more polished and some nice mod framework put in to make it easier to mod Transcendence. Put in on the machine and will enjoy playing it for a while, that second video is sick... there is a hell of a lot of things firing at him.
