Well i am Happy..i have found u

Post by tsgiannis »

Hi to everybodyWell i am really glad i have found you...i am sick of all this FPS games....i can't really see the fun....but Elite and the likes are just a different kind...i just can't describe the thrill of playing into the emptyiness of space.I believe i will never get the same excitement i got around 25 years ago i shut down to play Elite and found myself trying to evade a nasty Thargoid...well it was a duel that lasted 2.5 hours ...it started in the planet and ended somewhere near the sun...me and my under powered Combra MKIII with nothing else than the rookie lasers ...but i WON...i blasted the s*n of a B!tch into a million pieces.Well i just love i have found u...and greetings from GreeceP.s i just ended a course in C and probably i will move to C++ or C# so if there is some source code of Elite i would really like to take a look to level up my programming skills.

Welcome tsgiannis and do checkout the link area as well there is a nice compiled list of games that grows all the time. There is some great people here and a few games talked about here. And if your in the right thread there are usually devs for the newer games hanging around that you can get some questions answered. And hopefully someday I can get around to learning C++ myself I need to do something different for the daily job :)

nice to see a hellene in this little galaxysource for elite i guess isn't available, guess the original game was neither written in C, i'm not shure, what i know is that Frontier only partwisely is written in C, the rest is true assembler, think of the limited space of a DD floppy and the depth of the game, it can't be written in a "speakable" language like C.but there nave been a lot of clones made of elite or frontier, in all the years the most recent and (to me) best is pioneer, stick your head together with the developer maybe.here the link to his site: http://pioneerspacesim.net/ the thread on ssc: http://www.spacesimcentral.com/post7609.html#p7609
