I'm flying over Epsilon Indi B now. A so called "dead world". I was looking for a desert world earlier today but now I know what they're called in game. Beautiful! Well made, s20dan!The "dead world" I visited in some Gliese something sector looked even better by the way :D .

Cheers.Yeah Epsilon Indi B was the best looking world at one time, but after some changes to the mountains to stop other worlds from looking odd, it lost its place at the number one spot :) But it is still a good example of the sand-dunes at least. The Quan system is a good one that I can think of off the top of my head, a ways north east or north-north east of sol. And then theres another Quan system with a nice desert/dead world even further along the same line :)

We should start an 'explorers guide' to the Pioneer UniverseWanted feature: To land your ship, ride out a sand buggy and cruise the place  or even walk around or camp out :)That would be extra super awesome

Another dried-out planet just for the hell of it, because I like them :)[attachment=369:pioneer-msvc-9 2010-12-24 01-11-49-72.jpg]It still surprises me how real some of these worlds look, heres a pic of Mars for comparison... real mars.A volcanic world with 2 moons:[attachment=370:pioneer-msvc-9 2010-12-24 01-33-35-32.jpg]

I think a found a new favourite planet. Look at the detail on this one. It's absurd :o . The lower resolution and compression of these screenshots just don't do this game justice. Watiar C b has to be seen to be believed.

I still think the desert worlds really are the wonderful, they just have so much texture, variation and look (like you said S20dan) very real :)

This game has such incredible potential! I love the planetary simulation and terrain!I've said it in another thread and I'll say it again-- if you've never tried landing and speeding up time to watch the skyscape on a planet with multiple moons or on a moon itself, you have to give it a go!A very close approach to a sister moon with the host planet in the background.Sunrise on Arso-g3.

Not that I know of, but pressing control + M a couple of times gives you lots of money. That should help you get around the galaxy faster.

deleting data/modules/pirates.lua should do the trick, or renaming it to not end with .lua

This is something like what the alpha 8 ship control panel will look like. I needed to do it because the speed readouts and other things should be on some semi-transparent thing so they are more readable against bright backgrounds. Not sure about the style...

The Saturn ring thing is a glitch in the alpha 7 planet generation code. I hear that they'll be back in alpha 8, but yes, we ATI people are at a disadvantage in the Pioneer Galaxy.

perhaps giving youreself unlimited fuel
not a perfect solution, but try thisopen the .lua of your chosen explorer ship.last in ship specs is the default hyperdrive, use i.e. -1 or a number higher as 14, see what you can get out of this.you will need a heavyly fueled ship perhaps, butonly once, fuel consumption is 0.you can do a similar trick in your savegame.to get the proper adress of your ship, search for the registration, it appears two times.to get the adress of the hyperdrive fitted, go to a starport and save the game.buy a different hyperdrive, save the game again.now compare both files.concentrate on the part where you found your ship, you will soon find the right adress of the fitted hyperdrive.tweak and test it until you got the drive of your needs.a further style related idea, let's say you have a eagle with plain green top,now you like to have one with the camouflage style top.search even for your registration in the savegame and change it (best both of them, but the first adress i guess is enough for this),this will change the look of many of my ships, it will change decals, flightgroup color and the (old) pilot's dress color and gender (helmet represents flightgroup to).as far as the flightgroup color is used, it will change to, sometimes it's made to blend with the random color, but i guess i didn't used that often, one example would be the SW-XWA Escort Shuttle.[attachment=461:2011-01-21_145401.jpg][attachment=462:2011-01-21_145702.jpg][attachment=463:2011-01-21_145805.jpg]one thing you can't change is the random color, but some of my ships respect even that and some variations use once colorvariable_0, once colorvariable_1, sometimes both and sometimes no.it needs some tries sometimes so don't be surprised when nothing has changed.because it's seeded from the registration, you can use allways the same name to get the same flightgroup color or decal to appear. usually i use GS-1966 and famous Bender will apear on my ships ;) .you can for shure easely setup your own set of decals, they don't need to have a special size, but maybe a alpha channel to make transparency and a size above 200x200 makes no sense (some will have to respect the "power of two" conventions of their grfx card, to be shure it works use 128x128).what about some xxx rated decals? i won't present them here that would be rude, but just as a idea...
