And I though space sims were dead...

Post by Rith »

Hello everyone!I thought space simulations were dead before I saw this site. I'm glad I found it, and I hope they endure for centuries to come!

Hoping in a few centuries we can all make our dreams of space come true, only bad thing the people posting to these forums right now won't be around to see it :( But maybe, just maybe SSC will still be around  Welcome to SSC Rith and dive in and enjoy the site.

Hi Rith :) It's my view that the SSC will be an essential part of all future databases installed on real starships in the future! After all the holodeck can get boring after a while! ;) Anyways, have fun reading the posts and welcome to the forum. :D

Oh, I don't know about that. We live in a time where we've already had the first wobbly steps of space tourism, and that's growing up relatively quickly, although America is likely not going to lead the space race going forward. So who knows, maybe I can still live to see my stel-tech gun get stolen while docked at a pleasure planet?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_tourism then there is the old http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_elevator recall seeing a consortium web site devoted to actually building a space elevator to develop space for industrial profit. And pow! I don't know sydjanus, the way everyone is dragging their feet on space exploration and settlements I doubt we will ever leave the planet in my life time. The space elevator is a decent concept but there countdown timer is 21yrs from now :( I will be in the 60's then, and all I will be hoping for them is some Dues Ex mods and cybernetics to make me live longer

Wonder if I could get a memory implant to remember all the decent trade routes in Frontier?

If humanity expands into space within 2-3 hundred years(or even survives that long), wouldn't space sims become like Grand Theft Auto? You could fly around and go pirating without the risk of actually dying, imprisonment, or worse. It would be awesome.
