Ships Cockpit and interiors

Post by Pinback »

Question which do you prefer. :?: 1 Many different types of ship that can owned and flown by the player. But with only one generic console ie no cockpit/interiors. Example games would be Frontier or the X games.2 One super detail ship with cockpit and the ability to move around in the ship . Game examples would be I-War, Parken, Precursors, sundog 3 A limited number of ship say 6 with cockpits and some of the features of 2. The only game example I can think of off hand is Privateer 1.Personally I’am torn between 1 and 2 I like having a large number of different ships but I also like the idea of having just one super detailed ship maybe with the ability to personalise it.

I would have to say #2. Just because having a few different class/faction style of ships is fine but each one would be great to have there own cockpit look and feel to them. Just like those screenshots from Black prophecy with the three faction ship cockpits, human, tyi and genide.

I think it depends on the focus of the game. For something that is going to tell a story and focuses on that, a really detailed single ship, however upgradeable, seems to work best. I like the 'gotta try em all' stuff with many ships too, but that approach makes it hard to stage story elements onboard.
