Help a noob

Hi I found pioneer by accident a couple of days ago. I have been blown away by the screenshots - I havn't played frontier for long time. However, I have been having real problems getting around in pioneer. I'd just like to know how to use the autopilot. No matter what I do I just can't get it to 'work'. If someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong I'd be most grateful. Thank you!

Welcome noob commander! F4 activates the comm system when landed, but when you're flying it activates the autopilot. This is a bit confusing at first, I know. After that it's fairly obvious. I hope you'll enjoy this game as much as I do! :D
