Recommendations? In the style of EV Nova, Frontier

Hi, I am new to this forum.Please pardon my ignorance, I don't particularly know what's new in the genre. Can I please get some recommendations? I'm after the open (sandbox??) kind of games like EV Nova or Frontier First Encounters. Something a bit newer hehe, maybe 3D...
