Now that must have took a bit of digging Pinback <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Yes it would be great to see the WC series triumphant return. Even Star Fox 64 3D has just been released on the little Nintendo 3DS. So perhaps this could mark a return to the mainstream for space sims?

It's a bit slimmer then DB saying they are working on Elite 4 very slowly. But if anyone has the money to do it then it’s EA.

I have been reading that stuff the past few days on wcnews. If I am correct Chris Roberts would have to get the permissions to actually make another WC game since EA owns all of the rights to all Origin software. I don't see how it would be possible for him to revisit without EA. Now EA has nothing to loose letting Chris Roberts create some Wing Commander games under this license because i'm sure a deal would be stuck to share the profits or maybe they might even fund t he game. I think just the hype behind the word spreading that a game is in the works would be some nice PR and advertising for them to build strength behind the game.Just give me a petition to sign :)

According to CIC Wing Commander the games are doing good business on GOG, lets hope EA is taking notice of the sales figures.

It's a bit like the Lucasarts rumor of a new X wing game, both have been doing the rounds for a few years now.

OMG! What is he working on? Fingers crossed (looking at the above picture with Merchants and Mercenaries Guilds) for a new Privateer, but to be honest any new space sim game would be welcome from Roberts. Tomorrow should be interesting indeed!

From The Chairman:Welcome! If you’ve made it here, you probably know who I am. Maybe you have heard of Wing Commander and its sequels, or perhaps Strike Commander, Privateer or Freelancer. If not, you’re still welcome! I grew up making video games. I sold my first game at the age of 13 and created Wing Commander when I was 21. But 10 years ago, at the height of my career I took a break. Not because I stopped loving or playing games but because I had become frustrated with the limits of the technology at the time to realize my vision. I decided to pursue my desire to create detailed worlds and tell sophisticated stories in film. I always said the moment I became interested in making games again was when I was going to come back. With the power of today’s computers and the reach of the internet I finally feel I have the tools to build the connected experience that I always dreamed of. A world that would be more satisfying and richer than any film I could work on. With films you tell stories but with games you create worlds. If you’ve played my games, you’ll know that’s what I love to do. I’m here to tell you that I have been working on something for just under a year, something that embraces everything that my past games stood for but takes it to the next level. I hope you’ll be as excited by it as I am. My new endeavor is still in its early stages but I invite you to take the journey with me. If you register below you’ll become an insider that will not only give you early access to the game’s website and forums, but you will also get the opportunity for rewards and privileges that no one else will get. It’s my way of showing how important your early involvement and support is. The full announcement will be at 10am Eastern Standard Time (UTC -5) on the 10th day of the 10th month of this year. My name is Chris Roberts. And if you would indulge me I would like to create a world for you.

(Emphasis is mine.)Wing Commander-esque MMO perhaps? I'm torn between wanting a new, single-player space world from Chris Roberts and wanting him to mess it all up with a too-ambitious-for-its-own-good MMO. Why? Because no one can out-Roberts the man himself and all the small developers around at this time will become somewhat irrelevant unless they're in a kind of niche monopoly spot. Roberts is capable of getting 7-figure backing for any credible idea and that would probably make anything we can do look somewhat amateurish and possibly pointless. On the other hand... Wing Commander! Privateer! Full motion video! With bags of goo being stepped on! Ermm... perhaps not that last feature <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_biggrin.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />Dear Chris.... we all love your work. Please don't release anything for at least two years, or our wives will kill us. Lots of love from some of your biggest fans, 3Axis Studios.

That's my feeling as well, that it will be some sort of MMO, IIRC was not Privateer 3 going to be an online game. There another countdown clock on the site with another announcement in a month so we should have a better idea what sort of game they are doing.Don't think any of the indies have anything to fear they say they are least 2 years away and if the game is a successful then it will befit all.Did every one get one of these golden tickets things?

I would be extremely happy with a standalone game, maybe multi-platform so they can monetize the game. If Chris can tell the story it would be awesome. But a MMO based game on the universe would be amazing as well... If it's done right that is. Only thing I hate about MMO's is once they die off that is it and you can never play it again no matter how much you enjoyed it. Guess in Oct 10th we will see more <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

...of course he can get 7 or rather 8-digit figures backing - especially having this "terms of services" any EA lawyer would be moved to tears...so bear in mind that you dont drive too fast else you get your account terminated !
