Joystick Recommendations?

Post by ChillPenguin »

Anyone have any joystick recommendations? I'm going to start playing MechWarrior 3 again, and I need a good joystick. I already have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, but I want something new. Anyone have any recommendations? I saw some really nice and advanced ones at Best Buy for like $150, but that's a little expensive and I'm not sure what makes it any better than other joysticks. Any advice for PC gaming joysticks that are for mech/space/flight simulation games? Any advice on what is a good joystick to buy would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!

I could tell you to get a Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar but it 's not in your price range (Although if you are patient you may find one of these, in a bargain since they are being replaced by Thrustmaster HOTAS A-10). But I also own a Logitech Freedom 2.4 GHz Cordless Joystick ( and I think it's ideal for you (No messing around with cables, and you can play MechWarrior 3 like I did)).

Has anyone heard anything about the cougar? It's sold out everywhere and no word on when or if there's a new batch coming. Two other questions(that I tried to research)while I'm at it...Does the stick twist for rudder control or do I need pedals(dealbreaker-I want to twist)? How long is the cable between the stick and throttle? In a perfect world, I'd like to get my hands on it before the buy to feel it out. Living in NYC, you'd think that would be possible, but to no avail as yet.P.S. - DarkOne, first time back since the update. You nailed it. The update is GORGEOUS. And it's gorgeous on top of form following function. Right on.
