Tom has written a very basic plan in another thread somewhere on this forum. But I can't find that so here it is off the top of my head. The plan is basically:Pioneer V1.0 - Frontier feature complete. 1.0 will have all of the features from frontier and a few little extras/improvements to make it more fun, such as extra missions.Pioneer V2.0+ - This is where all the really cool stuff will be added, such as construction, exploration (although its posible this could make an appearance in v1.0) , the ability to get out of your ship ;) , who knows what else... probably at this stage anything plausable would be considered.

V1.0 Sounds like the perfect game to me so I'm expecting my head will probably impolde when v.2 is released!

You should update the info on Mod DB with this s2odan. The future of Pioneer looks great! <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

This is similar to Oolite. In this game you can ebnable "strict mode" and in this mode you can use equipment only from original Elite, you can't buy other ships, no missions except these, wchich was inimplemented in original Elite and so on. I think, it will be great, when on Pioneer startup screen we can choice, whether we want play strictly Frontier remake, or Pioneer with all add-ons. What do you think?

we really need to start thinking of pioneer perhaps as an open source elite 4 if u want to but it isnt elite, so lets see what the programmers can do with it maybe even push it along x3, and a combination of 100 other of these similiar type games

There will be too much core stuff making Pioneer 'more than Frontier' for us to be able to give that choice. Pioneer will be its own thing.

So which is the "official" git repository for Pioneer now? My understanding is such: the official repository is still tomm's, with John Jordan having his own which is more his plaything where he tries things out, but eventually these changes when mature making it still into tomm's repo; same for s20dan's rep, with things being selectively transferred to tomm's. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Tom's Master branch is considered offcial. But there's nothing stopping you checking out some of the other branches for their changes.Robn also has his own repo which is very actively developed. I think if you want to try his changes, this is the branch to compile: https://github.com/robn/pioneer/tree/robn-integration which should contain all of his new changes in one merged branch. There's also a branch that I have at the moment which is basically merging of all compatible changes from all repos: Mine, Tom's, John's, Rob's, Luomu's and Snaar's. I did that because I like to play as much as anything else ;)That is located here: https://github.com/s20dan/pioneer/tree/project-merge

I am following several branches, but I wanted to clarify which will be the official one from which point releases will emerge. Because right now they seem pretty divergent. :) And my mind is feeble and easily confused - old age is creeping on me more and more each day.

it feels like something is wrong, the ghoul has this settings,forward_thrust = -12e6,reverse_thrust = 3e6,up_thrust = 2e6,down_thrust = -2e6,left_thrust = -2e6,right_thrust = 2e6,angular_thrust = 4e6,30 tons capacity10 tons hull massthat ends up in the screen with fully laden 30.6 and 7.6 gthe up thrust is 2/3 of 7.6 (~5) but i'm not able to lift from "gliese 191g", 2.7 earth masses?and i'm EMPTY! (no fuel, 3t left space).i was getting a little bit cautious wth the specs for the ghoul because i set by default all ships relatively high so they could even start under extreme conditions, but this is different!it's like i lost half of the thrust compared to alpha7 or 6.btw, i'm still concerned, i higher mass forces a higher dense atmosphere.

Shouldn't it be possible to land on some high gravity worlds and not be able to take off again?I guess you could ask how you were able to control your descent and not make a crater in the first place but still. ;-)

believe it or not i landed there, but couldn't manage to land on the starport (a few m/s to fast), so i landed rough, very rough, but landed.to land under such conditions you can pull your nose up and use main thrust to sink slowly (plays frontier since...).but that didn't matters, i should have been able to land and lift off with 5g upwards thrust and 2.7g gravity, with no problems.
