Help the search for Exoplanets

Post by Neagoth »

Been watching Stargazing live on BBC this week and they told you of a website were you can help look at data and help find exoplanets round distant stars. It's dead easy to do and can do while having a coffee break or whatever http://www.planethunters.org/

Not a bad website at all. best way to find these planets is to build a ship and go exploring :)

The guys that run the site have done a bunch of project in the past. Planet hunters has actually been going for a while before the BBC highlighted it.The other one they did that I took part in was the original galaxy zoo, where they identified something like 200million galaxies into either spiral or ellipse shape in the space of two years. They reckon doing it by computer would have taken 20 years. It'll be a while yet before we have to bow down to our new robot overlords :)
