Yes. It is possible to trade, to perform delivery missions and to cheat. Trade must be interstellar; prices across one system are the same at the moment.

How to I peform delivery missions? And the hyperspace thing isnt working for me.

You need to look in the bulletin board. If the bulletin board is empty, use the time accelerator at the bottom left until some appear.To hyperspace, you need to select a nearby system in the map, which is the second icon, or F2. Once you have selected a system, you must launch, and then press the hyperspace button on the right, or F7. This will use hydrogen fuel. You have one tonne of hydrogen fuel at the very start, which is enough for one jump.

once alpha 10 is out there might be new missions and new drives and more variance in pricing markets

There won't be any of this stuff in alpha 10 unfortunately. New missions will be possible, but I don't want to delay the release any more than it already is. No work has been done on the equipment or economy systems. If recent discussions are anything to go by there's some huge changes in store for everything related to the economy and political game (including trade, equipment and cargo). We're a few releases away from that though.
