Epic events

Just got an idea for an epic event! A star that goes kaboomski and you have to run from the shockwave. While looking back you see the planets, you use some huge zoom to see how the shockwave hits a planet, and you see it instantly break apart in millions of pieces. Imagine the next time you return you have these huge clouds of gas flowing inwards towards a new black hole, or maybe you see the gas light up in all sorts of wonderful colours in a strobocopic fashion due to the x-rays of a new pulsar (x-rays don't do that, but still) ... Oh whatever, I'm dreaming again.Since there are so many stars, imagine a galactic news service that predicts every supernova with great accuracy. You just go there and when the clock strikes zero you hope you have enough speed to stay ahead or you're in for a very rough ride. Any more ideas for epic events?

THAT would be epic indeed! Also love the idea of a supernovas in the game. In the original Elite there was a mission wasn't there?

Other big events: two planets fusing together (they totally liquify in the process and behave like a blob for the first few months) or a large meteor that causes an E.L.E. on the surface of Mars or Earth. Another epic event: McDonalds goes bankrupt because a huge planet is found where the native fauna shits mcnuggets on que and big macs grow in trees. And after that a large portion of the population of the Milky Way dies of obesitas, and the Galactic Health Organisation nukes the planet, causing galactic civil war. For years large attack drones shaped like turkey drumsticks engage flying spaghetti monsters and rebel spaceships that look like iceberg salads. Then God has had enough, first produces a cataclysmic burp that produces an enormous deafening shockwave that reduces every living thing into jelly, and then sneezes because he has an allergy of spaghetti, and creation is wiped away with at last the long foretold coming of the "Great White Hankerchief".

Mmmmmmmmmm interesting ideas there Azimech although I am not sure how difficult it might be to implement them into the game
