I agree matthew, in fact that idea could be taken even further. Remember the photo recon missions in Frontier and FFE? How about (optionally) linking a military cameras icon on the dash to also take real screen shots?

yes I remember them, you had to be pretty close and not raise any alarms, better be in a small fast ship, so this idea could be added for recon missions, taking photos of the following, partial constructed space stations, new ships designs, planets for new civilisations (with planet readings,) enemy fleets preparing to jump, (time limited so you can if you have a fast ship, get in take a few photos, get out and the alarm can be sounded and the enemy fleet could be countered, otherwise the system could be attacked and taken over (as it would be good if systems could change hands once in a while)you know, for military missions, once you are high enough, the military of your chosen faction could lone you a special kind of ship, cloaked (cloak non removable ) for more high risk photos like the above, decreasing your chances of been found, or you are given a cloak that gets fitted to your ship (again none removable until the mission ends (success of fail) then if fail, the cloak short circuits so stop it been used for other purposes) so stopping it from been an over powered itemI think astro photography type missions could be expended to cover a lot of areas, as it got pretty boring after a while in frontier, but in pioneer it could be pretty fun, and high risk with decent rewards

now that isn't a bad idea, having a astro photographer job, maybe, it could have some requirements, time limit, distance from target, or location, / time of day, and if its a good photo, you can get a fair bit for them, not a bad idea really
Not bad indeed.... :!:

As I wrote on the issue, it'll have to wait until we have custom equipment and key bindings available to Lua. Once that's done, a Lua script can make a camera, and assign a key to make it take a picture. The mission itself would be very similar to an assassination mission, except that you get near a target and press the camera key instead of shooting somebody. It shouldn't be difficult, once the necessary features are done.

Well, I remember Ford Prefect telling a story about a planet that suffered a worse fate than Earth. I can't remember the name of the place, but it got caught up in an inter-galactic game of ball billiards and got potted straight into a black hole, killing billions of people.Only scored 20 points too.

I think Red Dwarf also did a story about potting planets too, but I am not sure <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_confused.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':?' /> And nice work again s2odan <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wink3.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Or a secret military base. Just add a few more buildings, maybe a radar array or two, missile launchers and your good to go!
