RE: Wanted: new screenshots
OK, so I grabbed the newest (06 2013) version and started snapping a bunch of shots from Saturn's atmosphere but now I can't find them. I'm going back in to see if I can do a scoop with the sun in a better position relative to the rings... but I can't find the actual pictures for now. Win32 version running under WINE on Ubuntu 12.04, used ctrl-printscreen and heard the click... I've looked everywhere, including the hidden .wine directory... I'll try it with Vista but my windows wifi drivers are messed up so it'll take some file shuffling and maybe starting out from scratch again.Anyone got an idea where the new version is putting my pictures so I can post them?

@NeuralKernelWhy not use the Linux version? The Win32 version will be trying to put them into your "My Documents" folder under your user directory, but if you don't have one then it will probably fail.If it's succeeding then they should be in the same place as the config.ini, stdout.txt, stderr.txt and opengl.txt files are written too but a subfolder called "screenshots". I'd use the Linux build though

RE: Wanted: new screenshots
I can't unpack the linux version, either I'm missing something or the file is corrupted (downloaded twice, both failed).I remember trying the linux version a while ago and switching to the windows version so I'd only need to download once for all platforms...I'll grab some conventional desktop screenshots with Pioneer in a window, works fine and shows how you can fly in the background while doing other stuff

Weird, I just grabbed the 32bit and 64bit linux builds and was able to open them ok on my Windows machine at work (naughty of me) so the archives seem intact.

RE: Wanted: new screenshots
I did it! I scooped Hercules!!! Got back up to low orbit, too! I was ready to jump to Sol if things got bad, but I did it! I do NOT recommend it outside an emergency situation, small and medium gas giants are still much easier!https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-1hUK684APTdjFIaFg3Q1lCVE0/edit?usp=sharing I'll try to get a few more from Saturn, it's a MUCH easier flight!

RE: Wanted: new screenshots
The more the gravity pf GasGiant is hight , the more you need to speed relative hight . and of course flight a hight speed in a thin atmo is more difficult in manual flight. Since the update of Geneisa i've experiment mores scoppings , and i like the fact that ther is an ( human ) limit for scoop on some hight gravity planets ^^. Mybe in the futures century thers wher a routine scoop for autopilot ?

RE: Wanted: new screenshots
The atmosphere on the gas giants is still too compressed, MUCH better than it has been in the past... and while the whole "threading the needle" aspect of hitting atmo at JUST the right speed and angle is one of the things I love best about Pioneer... only having a few vertical kilometers between vacuum and "ground" just isn't enough. I tried doing some aerobraking flights around Saturn at a "modest" 100 kps and haven't been able to pull it off properly, the flight controls don't have the precision and the strip of atmosphere is just too small... that and I'm just not THAT good a pilot

I think that, after all the photos I took, I yet didn't give to my beautiful Wave the attention it deserves. So, after landing at Meyer Starport on Tseng's Misery (Gliese 873 -1, -2, 1 ... not a very interesting place ...), I decided to wander around the platforms and make some pictures of my beautiful spaceship. :prankster: EDIT: In my previous post I forgot to hide the ID of my ship. Fixed.

Blight light :)I went blind :OThe first four planets of Iota Pegasi have a very thick atmosphere. Iota Pegasi B was the most extreme. With very high pressure (~80 atm). In the first minutes of the descent, everything was almost completely white.

RE: Wanted: new screenshots
Quick question... how do I take fullscreen screenshots in 201306.21 linux32? I tried hitting the screenshot button (works in windowed mode, part of Ubuntu) but neither it nor crtl-prtscr works in fullscreen (or I just can;t find the pics...). Help?

RE: Wanted: new screenshots
It's down as ctrl+prtscn or ctrl+multiply (aka * on the numpad) but I don't think there's any errors or warnings if it fails to save. Not sure why it would work with one but fail in another mode though.
RE: Wanted: new screenshots
Ctrl+PrtScr works for me. The pictures are saved in home/.pioneer/screenshots/. You have to enable 'Show hidden and backup files' in the Files-Preferences tab to see the folder.

OK, first batch of shots from the Linux Version, what's a better way to upload these so there's thumbnails?https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-1hUK684APTWFhFSzExMGY0RGM/edit?usp=sharing
