Mining Asteroids

Talk about everything else that may happen in life that doesn't happen inside the real world of Space Gaming... is there really anything outside of Space sim/Combat Gaming?

Awesome, mining is one of my favorite things to do in space games.

I think increasingly, the geeks who grew up immersed in sci-fi and saw the moon landings as kids are now the billionaire owners of giant tech companies, and have come to realise that unless they put some money on the table, those dreams just aren't going to become reality.Of course none of them got rich by taking massive risky bets, so that's why you don't see them just chucking vast piles of cash at the problem, but if they are serious, then with a little bit of luck, commericalisation of space may yet happen.I think asteroid mining is as good a way to start as any. Space tourism is fine, but I don't think it has as much potential (plus it is a lot riskier / more expensive to send humans vs robots up into space)
