I really hope to see the "Christmas miracle" effect happen in a big way for this game - it's too great not to be well-funded! The devs have assured us they'll keep working on the game regardless... but it'd be nice if they didn't have to get full time jobs or survive on ramen noodles and water. Spread the word!Personally, I like the name - it's unique and not forgettable like too many other space game titles that seem to consist of combinations of the words "genesis," "rift," and "void." "Genesis Rift: The Void" - "Rift Void: Genesis" - Genesis Void: the Rift"! <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_rolleyes.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> The name also makes sense, as you are a space pirate.

I guess it just me but tend to think of planes when I see the title as in "Hijacker"

I get that. But really you can hijack any vehicle. Boat, truck, jet, train - why not a spaceship? I hope we get to steal disabled ships and either sell them or use them ourselves. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I think that's a certainty. Thanks to Digitilus' savvy coding, my medium-slow rig can handle dozens of ships battling at once (based on the demo) without a hitch, and I've heard that much larger battles are definitely planned.

About 50hrs left until the end of the kickstarter, I hope more people jump on board for this game soon. Digitalis has a surprise they said, probably be tomorrow.

Still about a 100k a tough one, but not impossible to do as these Kickstarts can come good in the last few hours.

They are about 60% now (just under 120k) they can do it if the word gets out and people make some donation. Digitalis is really showing some class in how they are looking at the kickstarter as a whole and the game will come out with or without kickstarter. It would just be a huge boost for the team if they made the goal they are striving for. Made my donation and I hope everyone that hasn't and likes open world games to lend a hand.

Why do you suppose their kickstarter failed? What we uncover should be helpful to other space sim kickstarters.

I think it was the figure of $200k personally and I think Digitalis will do better doing smaller kickstarters for small projects within SkyJacker. I think its tough for a unknown/new IP to get any real funding without some big names behind it or some money or friends in high places. That last kickstarter, think it was starlight inception was looking for 120k and they barely made it on the last day, and if you notice SkyJacker was right about that at 128k. I think they are moving in the right direction and the game is still going to be made. But I was a bit surprised it didn't come closer to the goal, because Digitalis did a good job on really showing off their art work, explaining the game and they had a damn demo. Maybe a bit more self promotion from Kickstarter might have helped, because I get emails from them and sometimes they are advertising the lamest things. But never did receive a email about SkyJacker.

Would agree with D1 that the amount was just a shade too high and that the game was unknown before hand, some better ground work building up the game before jumping straight into the Kickstarter.I also noticed on RPS that they said the updates were confusing which may have contributed to it.Good new is that Digitalis have not given up and have set up there own shop front where you can pr-order the game using the same tiers as Kickstarter.http://store.digitilus.com/

Yeah I read that in my email yesterday, $20 gets you two copies and from what I have seen in the videos and what Digitalis has put out it will be money well spent.

SkyJacker back with a new kickstarter, this time for a game called SkyJacker Constructor with a modest $30K stretch goals will be used to fund the full game. also say they are porting the whole game to unity

I pledged on the first KS effort (yes, I'm a sucker for Space Sims). I'll see if I can support this time also, although between the whoopie amount of cash on Elite (and 5 related books...), Godus, Satr Citizen and Limit Theory, it is getting a bit over the top. Damn, 20 years waiting for a proper space sim and now we have at least 3 candidates???
