Bomber spawn

Stashatter takes place in a galaxy known as the "Blue Drift" where the two colonial superpowers, The Terillian Alliance and the Marakan Hegemony are gridlocked in a cold war standoff that, following a civil war in a neighboring neutral system, escalates into open conflict in the systems.

Bomber spawn

Post by pasmon »

As a carrier commander my biggest nightmare is the bomber spawn at each mission. I take it as a cheat on aprt of game develepor. Is there a way to turn it off or delay it so i could launch fighters for a proper defence.

I'm not sure if there is a way to stop it from happening. THis is another aspect of the game that I have not experienced. I have not done much playing as a flight ops commander as I very much prefer cruisers. I am however glad that you enjoy this part of the game because you are exposing me to things that even after playing for years that I was not aware of. I will look into the spawning effect you are talking about. In the meantime you might try hitting the f3 key to get an outside view of the carrier and the fighters that are launched. If you highlight a particular fighter and then right click on it you can issue commands to fighters that you did not launch yourself. For example if you right click then click on command then click on escort that will make a blue cursor thing appear which you can then drag to your carrier causing those spawned craft to escort the carrier instead fo doing whatever they were spawned to do. That way they will be there to help defend if the need arises.

Well they are all spawned as enemy fighters. My strategy is to quantum jump, alert my fighters, quantum jump and start accelerating in the opposite direction. That way saves my ass until now.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought the game was spawning fighters from your ship. I'm not sure I'm understanding the problem then. Is it not reasonable for an enemy carrier to move against your carrier with everything they've got? I know that is what I would do if I spotted an enemy carrier. It takes considerable firepower to destroy a carrier so many attack and craft and fighter escorts would be needed to have a reasonable chance of success.

Actually whenever i start flight ops. There are two or three enemy bombers spawned from nowhere even in the absence of enemy carrier. I first encountered them in Solus region. They appeared in almost every carrier mission. Where are they coming from? I searched campaign.def. It does not contain any string related to these

Could they be coming from star-bases?

Yes, it is possible for fighers to launch from a star base. That could be where they are coming from.

I have an idea where these bombers are really coming from. Remember the def files for FS,IS patrol in templates directory. This file contains spawning of two to three bombers. Each fighter or intercept mission usually produces two bombers.Somehow flight ops uses this template file. This seems to be hard coded.
