RE: Mods listing
Absolutely, there is no way you should be left to do all this all on your own. It would (over time) become a massive job as like you said, the game is still at alpha so things can change very quickly with regards to requirements for mods. My ideas came from looking at what the people over on the Oolite board do with their OXPs. They have 100s of them, but they guys have worked out a pretty good system for adding mods to their OXP archive and its well organised too.If mod makers can upload their files to the right part of the Pioneer Mods archive, that would be a great start. And Metamartian, you have done great work in updating Gernot's models, anyone who helps the project is a hero in my books! <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//girl_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
RE: Mods listing
Vuzz, I don't think that will work as a mod. My understanding is that it needs to be in .zip format, not .7z.. A person would have to extract it to a folder, then .zip it back up. I haven't tried it. I see we're both trying to bring Gernot's big crappy back to life. Your version would be better than mine because I altered it so it wouldn't use his sub-models. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
RE: Mods listing
VuzzThe operation of Pioneer-mod, is simple. You put the mod file compressed with ZIP, inside the folder /modPioneer will handle uncompress and apply. You try it.If you do not like, or not working, you remove the MOD, and the system returns to its original state.A MOD, NEVER replace a file that contains the elements essential to the operation of original models of the system. Unless this is the desired behavior.A MOD, NEVER modify the system permanently.Maybe someone who knows the English language can make a mod guide easier to understand.
RE: Mods listing
@Geraldine, I turn to you because it may be the most know the story of Pioneer.I need to know who the authors of the official models. Ie, ships, buildings, stations, etc. This is important because in the readme.txt should be the credits. And the addition of a detail of which is the modification has been done and on what file
RE: Mods listing
Wow, thats a question and a half walterar! Tomm created the first models seen in the game when he originally coded the game for example, the Sirius Interdictor which was the very first ship in the game. I think thats the only model of his still left in the game, all the buildings have been replaced.John Jordan (the creator of JJFFE) does loads of stuff in the project. I have seen his influences throughout the game.Uncle Bob's Lanner is the first model you see when stating the game and it too was converted from FFE3DMost of the Elite ships were originally created by Gernot, but they have been modded for every Alpha, sometimes by Gernot himself, sometimes by others. He also created some buildings, adverts and God only knows what else too and is Pioneer's most prolific model makerMarcel created the Ladybird, stations (especially landing bays), cool new landing pads (although they are not in the official game yet)s20dan also did models as well as his wonderful work on stars, and planetsThe present buildings were created by VlastanBrianetta I am sure has also modded alot of the games content as has Robn and Luomu tooPhilbywizz did the Mac conversion, what an incredible amount of work that must have been!Vuzz as you know, tweaked the Mil Falcon and he is correct about David Braben, and also Ian Bell, without those two there would be no inspiration.Steve Tyler originally created the beautiful Viper model for FFE3D then Gernot converted it. Also the cockpit I think was redone by him. I really wish he would come back to the project as he had buckets of talent and some great ideas for the game.Basically there is a whole lot of people who update models, convert them from other sources, add cool details like icons, planet pictures and other behind the scenes work that you never see, but without it there simply wouldn't be a game.Every name I have mentioned above are all heros and I am grateful to each and everyone of them for helping to bring my eternal dream of having a new modern Elite game. Also apologies to any I have missed as not all the contrubtors post very often on here. You can always check out the Author's txt file in the Pioneer folder, I will re-produced it below, its the Alpha 24 version"The Pioneer team, past and present, as at 13 July 2012 (alpha 24):Aaron LewisAaron SeneseAeAlessandro GiachiAndrew CoplandAsier BasagoitiBenamuckiBenjamin HodgettsBlaga CosminBrian RonaldC de CraenChris DennettCraig ThomsonDan BennettDarren SaltFran MortonGareth AllnuttGernotJohn BartholomewJohn JordanKimmo KotajärviKonrad MrukLeonardo MannaMarcel TullohMarcus de RoosMichele BotticelliNicPaul MaholPaul RobertsPeter KuruczPhil HowlettPiotr GredkaRobert NorrisSean BaileySimon ChopinSteve TylerSukender (Benoit Neil)Taiki KimThierry DupréTim JonesTom MortonUlf PetterssonUncle BobVincent TeerlingThanks also to the ever-enthusiastic inhabitants of the SpaceSimCentralforums. RE: Mods listing
@ Geraldine, just an fyi <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> JohnJ actually coded the original Pioneer ships. As far as I know, Tom asked John to make them <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Like the Sirius Interdictor (as you mentioned) Flowerfairy trader, Ladybird, the Walrus ect ect.

i've make a slightly variation on the model caribou , and think remame this one to "Panther clipper" because for me it seem really like the old panther of Frontier .so in this case we must put "David Braben" as modeler ? <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
The Caribou used to be called the Panther Clipper, then I renamed it to the Panther Trader, intending to make another version which would be the Panther Clipper. Then when that didn't happen, someone renamed it to the Caribou. And btw, I made the Caribou/Panther as my first model in Blender <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Thats why it sucks <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wink3.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Thanks for that s2odan <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//good.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':good:' /> , I wasn't sure if JJ had been involved from the very beginning with Tomm.

RE: Mods listing
i'm fairly certain that with each mod i have uploaded there is a read me listing the persons who contributed to that mod as best i knew at the time. also in each read me is the location of the authors txt so that all pioneer developers are covered in case of any mistakes, this also covers the original released basic ships which were then modified by gernot.and if there is not, there will be after the sub models and overwriting lua's have been removed and the models reuploaded.

If you have made a modification go ahead and release it please <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> That ship needs some love <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wink3.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
RE: Mods listing
Thanks s2odan for the correction on the Ladybird. I didn't make the model. I just put the textures on it and had some suggestions about improving her performance. That thing couldn't even lift off from Earth from a rough landing and in combat it would just sit there. A police ship indeed. Come to think of it, I used to see a lot more pirates back in the days before she got her improved thrusters. Do you think maybe... <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//unsure.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
RE: Mods listing
Here's the ground stations in mod format. I've tried to follow the proper naming conventions, but feel free to rename it if you wish.
RE: Mods listing
Hello,First of all, this is great stuff! I had no idea there was so much models out there, to be honest. It would be a really good idea to specify the license. In the mainline dev repository, the code is licensed under the GPL-3+ license whereas the art assets are under CC-BY-SA v3. There's a whole mess of more-or-less open/free licenses out there, and I am sure our host would appreciate a clear stand-point on this, especially the redistributability stuff.
RE: Mods listing
That's a good point laarmen. You reminded me that I forgot to put in the credits for the textures I used. Thanks, I just fixed that. My contribution is free to use for any purpose, but it would be nice if you gave me credit for it. I don't know what license that would be because I always fall asleep while trying to read them. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wink3.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />OMG, this is post number 666 for me! (the devil made me say that.) <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//diablo.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />Speaking of the devil, Gernot made a mod of Vlastan's buildings that I really like. It re-sizes the windows to the proper scale. I renamed it to match the naming conventions as I understand them.
RE: Mods listing
@laarmen, welcome to the jungle. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//hi.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hi:' /> What you see is just the tip of the iceberg.I was poking around your fork, and saw the work with Equipment, and EquipSet. Got something actualized?@Marcel, I think you forgot something inside the zip. Some things left over. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_biggrin.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
RE: Mods listing
You mean the .ds_store files? I didn't know what those were until now. I just renamed Gernot's mod and posted it. Thanks! We have a saying around here. 'The Devil's in the details'. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_twisted.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />Oh, and btw, I fixed it.Then noticed that I left out the Mod Read Me.txt file and fixed it again. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_rolleyes.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
RE: Mods listing
In Buildings-GroundStations-Pioneer-a24-Marcel.zipThere is a folder "stations" duplicate outside of the folder "models" Anyway, it works ok. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//drinks.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':drinks:' />The mod gernot on vlastan is very good. They have "the touch" p66 <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//clapping.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':clapping:' /> OK to DS_Store, are everywhere. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//big_boss.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':codemafia:' />
RE: Mods listing
<img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//unsure.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> That's odd, I can't find it anywhere, not even in the original file. I just downloaded the one I re-posted and it's not in there now. Anyway, thanks for the feedback. I agree, p66 was great. I miss him. I just wanted to make sure that everyone had the opportunity to use this mod.
