RE: Mods listing
I thought you knew. He told me he stopped working on Pioneer because of creative differences and personality conflicts. I'm hoping he'll change his mind but he hasn't posted anything since. That's why the efforts to keep his models viable is so welcome.
RE: Mods listing
I am very sorry to hear that Marcel <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//sad.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />I too hope he changes his mind as the place is not the same without him. Even if he doesn't want to make anymore models, I will miss his posts.Come back Gernot, even if it's only to say HI every now and then!!
RE: Mods listing
Sorry for the late reply, I can setup automatic posting to a certain forum area for downloads/mods that are added to Pioneer. Currently the whole Pioneer download area is a mod/file repository so all of the files upload here would show up there. If we would like to make a bit more organized I would need to make another category (probably called 'Pioneer Mods') and have all mod files moved to it and keep Pioneer folder for Pioneer builds, utilities, and various other things that are needed. Now Potsmoke also had a download area where he stored his mods in the Pioneer area that he asked for is that what MetaMartian is doing is converting them and keeping them current? If so I can just rename this folder and move or delete what is needed. But if everything works right I would create a sub-forum for Pioneer called Pioneer Mods and just tell the download manager that any new files (old files shouldn't get re-posted) added to the download area would have a post created for it, so anything that you put in the description and screenshots should show up in the post that is created. I can create something for you in a few minutes if you wanted to try it out to see if you like the way it works. What should be nice about the posts is that as long as there is some thought to the title name it should be easy to navigate and links back to the download area to the file is provided in the post.Just let me know and I can work on getting this in place for you, and advise on any possible cleanup of the download area, because unused files take space and should be removed if out dated or not usable by current build of Pioneer.

Hello DarkOne. We are still adjusting some things.I want to see this draft model readme.txt (to include to the MODs) and correct it as you see fit. Probably will have, also, language errors. If anyone has a better idea, please add, delete, or correct.readme.txt

RE: Mods listing
Sorry I forgot about this post, you can include anything you want in the mod/file description and it should be posted with the auto post. But it would be the responsibility of the poster to make sure that this txt is there. The download system doesn't have a templating system if that is what you are getting at. I might just turn it on and make something for Pioneer just to see how it works.

RE: Mods listing
Hi all, can someone add this mod to the list.Tranquility Base, the Moon's most visited city, known as home of the Lunar Smithsonian. It's elaborate celebrations in restaging the event's of mankind's first venturesoff world onto another are a spectacle of stellar proportions that are not to be missed.Tranquility Base has become the legendary place where terrans from across the galaxy congregate to pay homage to the greatest space pioneers and expeditions of history.Relive the experience of humankind's first voyage to the lunar surface. You are tasked to fly a working reproduction of the original LEM from Gates Spaceport down to the Tranquility Base landing pad as part of the commemorating cerimony.Good Luck Pilot!(Note: the LEM should be available in all shipyards but is only designed for limited spaceflight and low lunar style gravities)Flying the Lunar Excursion Module is like balancing a broomstick on it's end.Make a few saves in critical places - so you don't get too frustrated, practice and patience. Slow and easy wins the race.Best way I've found to fly the LEM over terrain is from external view. Use the F1 key to set view to the view that does NOT allow sidereal views.- (no need to complicate things).I have found this view to be a reliable vantage to pilot the LEM.It allows (when set properly) quick side to side view scans to check the LEMs relative bank angles at any time. Set zoom level to your preference. If launching from Lunar surface, maintain thrust after launch begins using the main thruster until you are at desired altitude. If you don't want to have to balance the LEM manually you can turn on Autospeed and set to zero.Auto Speed set at zero is probably the easiest way to insure safe maneuvering - but is also less challenging. Before landing you should at least turn manual back on for the last few feet before touchdown. Also don't forget to keep your landing gear icon in down mode.Auto speed can be useful if you want to travel over a larger area of terrain but don't want to spend a lots of time tending to your ship's orientation and altitude.Things that need fixing:The LEM flys backwards - thrusters need to be re-addressed to solve this - but at least you get to look at the pretty side <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wink3.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />The normal forward and rear views keys do not correspond to the front or rear view of the LEM, so these views will not be so useful. An autopilot will probably not work - but I have not tested this since it sort of misses the point of this mod.ie: Manualy controlling and landing the LEM.The LEM is meant for low gravity environments and so doesn't cope well with higher than Lunar type gravities. The LEM has no atmospheric shield so burning up durring planetfall on some low gravity atmosphere rich world could occur. Exiting Gates Starport safely:This is a work around to exit the (classic Elite style) spacestation. (also the shape of Gates Starport in Alpha26)Use the exit the station function as normal - once the docking sequence abandons you in the docking bay and gives you back manual control, immediately put the Auto speed function on and set it to zero speed. (Allow the station door to close) Now creep up to the station exit door as best you can(despite any weird graphical issues, caused by the station revolving around you) using only your small forward thrusters. Once nearer the door you shouldbe safely out of the sweet spot that would otherwise tractor you back inside the space station. Now apply again for docking clearance and the door will oncemore open allowing you to apply your small forward thrusters to safely leave the station's docking bay.At this point you can orient the LEM as you wish, pick a direction and fire up the main engine.Control of the LEM's direction is best determined from a camera view directly behind the main engine. Positioning and maneuvering the LEM from this angle- takes some getting used to. (having auto speed on here may be helpful)The main engine allows you to traverse larger distances faster. You will be reliant on it's thrust to cover the major distance between Gates starport and that of the Moon.In Dedication to Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Micheal Collins and to all those who more than dared dream of landing a man on the surface of the moon.enjoy, baobobafet

RE: Mods listing
Just a tiny update that adds some extra info in the zip's txt file.
RE: Mods listing
This looks promising baobobafet! I'll try it out soon. Right now it's getting late and I'm kind of drunk. It was a fun party. <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//drinks.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':drinks:' /> Anyway, I suggest you add it to the Downloads area above.

Thanks Marcel, It's up there now - btw nice to have your beautiful landing pads for the LEM to land on <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//good.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':good:' />
RE: Mods listing
@ baobobafetGreat work there getting the model to work within Pioneer. That screen shot is going on ModDB! <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//girl_crazy.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':girlcrazy:' />
RE: Mods listing
"Tranquility Base? This is LEM, the Eagle has landed - on Europa!"I launched from Clarke's Station and did it on manual. Col. Armstrong would have loved doing that I'm sure, and would have loved having that much fuel to burn! <img src="'http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//biggrin.gif class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />Update - I thought I'd mention that I made it back to Clarke's Station, also on manual the whole way. My experience with Orbiter was invaluable here. Pioneer is actually much easier, especially when you're within 1000km of the station and your frame of reference makes it seem as though you're in the same orbit. Orbiter simulates a separate orbit for objects no matter how close they are so there's all kinds of drift issues to deal with. I can see this sort of thing being done in 3200 as a kind of sport, similar to the way people still use sailboats today.

How do I install it? I tried copying the zip file in ~/.pioneer/mods (like I do with the other mods), and extracting its content, but it didn't work.
