Does this mean it will be affordable during a Steam Sale?

Yes. Initial pricing will be 60$ on steam, but i am quite sure it will be in some holiday sales

I've been tempted for this 4x game many times, but the ridiculous price (for a niche game from a small studio) has always put me off. Is it really worth it? Considering it's more than 10 times (!) more expensive than (say) Space Empires IV on Steam. auryx

Yes it's worth it. But, only if you can afford it. Imo its the best 4X game released in recent times, closely followed by sots2 (after the many patches). Any of the other games (like endless space) fade into obscurity compared to those 2. There are some other good titles on the horizon btw. Predestination, M.O.R.E., amongst a bunch of others.
